Time seemed to be passing achingly slow. I literally hadn't been home an entire month yet and I was bored out of my mind. I took sight seeing and random trips around the city to keep my mind busy. I went out with my friends as much as time would permit. They were all getting ready for final exams. I sat by and basically twiddled my thumbs trying not drown myself in memories. In order to keep that from happening, at the moment, I was out with some girl friends to let off some steam. They were out enjoying their last week before a week of hell and I was out because I needed to get the hell out of my house.I looked around the bar feeling more than a little self conscious. My friends, Cat and Lux, were wearing barely there dresses compared to me. They were extremely self confident in their appearances while I was struggling to not be too noticed by wandering eyes. I looked down at my simple black dress and red pumps. It was definitely more clothing than half the girls around me were wearing yet I still felt half naked.
Before I could allow myself to dwell anymore on my lack of clothing a familiar arm snaked around my waist. I looked up to see Cat pulling me close to her as she talked to a guy standing inches from her. I had been so lost in thought I hadn't even noticed him come up.
"This is Delani, my girlfriend." Cat smiled sweetly down at me but I could read the look in her eyes. We had an understanding that we would do this if a guy approached we didn't want to talk to.
"Sorry, babe, I was totally lost in my own head. You know how I get. Who's your friend." I asked as I left a light lingering kiss on her cheek. I watched at the guys eyes lit up but immediately dimmed. He made an attempt at an excuse and left us alone just as Lux came sauntering up from the dance floor.
"You guys are totally missing out! These guys are O.M.G." Lux said fanning herself and rolling her eyes back. I couldn't help but laugh with Cat. Lux was the absolute biggest flirt but I wouldn't have it any other way.
"You should have just seen this guy trying to hit on Cat. He was like half an inch from her face. We had to do the girlfriend thing." I said laughing as Lux looked horrified.
"It was terrible but I'm surprised Delani over here even noticed until I grabbed her." Cat said as she gave me a sidelong glance. I felt the blush creep up my cheeks. Lux gave me a knowing look.
"Lost in thoughts about a certain someone, I imagine." Lux said as she wiggled her eyebrows up and down at me. I rolled my eyes as Cat joined in.
"More like certain someone's." Cat giggled at her own joke. She was referring to all of them rather than just Harry. I looked down at the ring that rested on my thumb. I hadn't taken it off since the day at the airport. It was a little big but there were worse things in life than having one of Harry Styles' personal rings not fit you.
"Look, you've gotta get out of that pretty little head of yours. We came here to have a good time. So, lets fucking do it!" Cat yelled as she smacked the bar top to signal we needed to order drinks. Lux threw her hands up and gave a squeal. I think it was her way of agreeing with Cat. I laughed and turned around to take whatever drink Cat wanted to sling my way. I trusted her with my life so I knew she could easily pick out something I would thoroughly enjoy getting drunk on.
My mood got lighter and lighter as the night wore on. I imagine it was because of all the drinks I had consumed but I was at the point where I didn't much care anymore. I loved the easy feeling that came over me while I my head buzzed with alcohol. I was more at ease than I had been in months. I danced with Cat. I danced with Lux. I danced with total strangers. I was actually having fun. My mind was fuzzy and not thinking deeply. I was going to take every advantage I could.
I felt a set a warm hands on my hips as I turned to see a semi familiar face looking down at me. He had a huge grin on his face as he pulled my back against his front. His identity clicked into place as I danced against him. Aiden. I had, had him in a few classes when I still attended at the university and we got along great. He was friendly and apparently a good dancer. He gripped my hips tighter and leaned down to whisper in my ear.
"It took me the entire night to get up enough courage to come dance with you."
I leaned back in to his chest and laughed. He gripped my hips and turned me to face him, pulling me flush against his body. My pulse picked up speed as well as my breathing. I hadn't had any real physical contact like this with the male species in months. I had stopped being touchy feely with the boys when I decided I wanted to be on the straight and narrow. Look where that got me. A ring. I let my mind come back to the present. I didn't want to think about him. So, I focused on the very real, very handsome specimen in front of me.
I stared up at him. He was a good head taller than me even with my heels on. I enjoyed that aspect. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer still. I licked my lips as an invitation. I saw his eyes dilate while his they darted from my eyes to my lips and back again. I felt his grip tighten and I knew he wanted to kiss me. Hell, I wanted him to kiss me. I was drunk and he knew that and I respected the fact he was restraining himself. I gave my him a slight nod. I knew what I wanted regardless. He didn't hesitate.
I felt the soft brush as his lips and then the hard press as they met mine. I opened my mouth to allow his tongue access to explore. He tasted like mint and whiskey. He skillfully met my tongue with his followed by a small nip of my bottom lip. I sighed against his mouth, relaxing further into the kiss. I missed things like this so much. Before it could go any further he pulled back. I heard myself whimper at the loss of contact. He chuckled and leaned down to talk into my ear so he could heard over the loud music.
"I don't want to press my luck, but how do you feel about coming back to my apartment?" he straightened back up to see my reaction. I bit down on my lip to conceal a smile. All I wanted to do was forget. I wanted a distraction and this was perfect. I grabbed his hand and looked toward the bar where I knew Cat and Lux said they would be.
