Blurry Lines

"Shh, don't wake them." I heard someone whisper nearby. I heard tapping and giggling afterward. There was a loud knock and I was immediately pulled from my in between state. My head snapped up as I took in my surroundings. I almost forgot where I was. I saw three boys standing around staring at me while smiling as another knock sounded. This time it was louder and insistent. As Michael went to open the bus door I looked down and had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing. Ashton was asleep half in my lap while I was stretched half across the couch. One of our legs rested on one another while his other leg still stuck out from under my blanket. It was the weirdest position to be caught in.

I looked up again to see an anxious looking Louis, followed closely by Zayn who looked almost as anxious as Louis. They both wore equally surprised expressions when they got a good look at Ashton and myself. He was coming around now. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and looked around at everyone. He gave a short laugh and sat up while pulling my blanket it with him. I gave him the evil eye. He smirked.

"Well, uh, Lani, we thought you'd want to come up to the hotel. You've got a room and we were worried about you.." Louis said as he scratched the side of his head. He looked extremely uncomfortable. I couldn't help but laugh at the level of awkwardness hanging in the air. All the 5sos boys were laid back. They just looked on with amusement because they didn't much care why I had ended up on their bus.

"Yeah, I'm coming guys. Just give me a minute I think Ashton will take some convincing to give up MY blanket." I said as I narrowed my eyes at Ashton. He stood up, ran to the back of the bus to the bunks, and I followed. After a fit of tickling me and sitting on my blanket refusing to get up I told him he could keep it. When he went to give it back I shoved it at him without taking it out of his hands. He looked confused.

"It gives me a reason to come back and bug you guys. You'll never be able to get rid of me now." I smiled wide. At this point I was making my way to the front of the bus where everyone was standing around talking and still looking awkward for the most part.

"We would never dream about letting you run off." Michael said grabbing me around the shoulders and shaking me. I rolled my eyes and smiled at him and the rest of the boys. I felt so much better and the anger that had been inside me had disappeared. Harry could ignite ridiculous emotions in me but we couldn't let something between us dampen the tour. We would be around each other way too long for that mess.

The walk from the tour bus' to the hotel was comfortably silent. I walked between Zayn and Louis, poking at Zayn when I got bored. Every minute or so Louis would open his mouth to say something but thought better of it and closed his mouth. I wanted to ask him what he had to say but I really didn't want to start another argument just as I was getting over having one with Harry.  Louis was one of my best friends. Yeah, we flirted a lot but he was the absolute best at listening to me. If he had something to say it would be tough to hear but I know his intentions were all for the best.

I was about to open my mouth to speak when Zayn's phone began to ring.

"Oh, its Perrie I've got to take this one." he gave a small smirk and walked toward his own room as Louis and I stood still. I was trying to get up the courage to speak again but it was harder the second time around.

"What the bloody hell is going on with you Lani?" when he finally spoke I was shocked. I stood staring at him with my mouth slightly open. He rubbed the back of his neck and took a deep breath.  I didn't exactly know what to say. I leaned back against his hotel room door and slid down until I was sitting on  my butt with my knees to my chest. He looked at me frustrated for a moment and then a little sad.

"Do you sometimes think this was a bad idea?" I whispered as he took a seat on the ground beside me.

"What's the bad idea exactly?" he asked as he took my hand between both of his.

"Me being here. You're all the best friends I've ever had but I think the lines are getting blurry. I don't want them to be that way." I squeezed his hand and laid my head on his shoulder.

"Love, the lines were blurred the moment you walked backstage with Cat. After the fainting spell and getting to know you, the lads and I agreed we had never met another girl like you. We wanted to keep you around." we laughed as we remembered. I was totally and completely embarrassed but the rest of that day and night was something to definitely remember. I sighed.

"I hate when you're right." I said looking over at him as I lifted my head.

"You must hate me all the time then." he smiled wide as I shoved his shoulder.

I had hope that things would work out just the way they were supposed to be. The first step would be to get the lines un-blurred as possible. I needed to take a step back and JUST be a friend again. My head needed to be on straight before I made any decisions. The boys didn't need extra drama to add to an already hectic touring schedule.
