Chapter 17.

Delnaz's POV

It was a cold and misty morning. The summer sun was probably melting the frozen world outside but I wouldn't know, considering that I was still in bed with my head stuck under a pillow.

"Delnaz Aliyeva! Get up, already! We're gonna be late for breakfast!" Yıldız yelled at me from below.

I moved to a top bunk because my friends decided to sneak their boyfriends into our dorm for the night. The two couples took the four bottom bunks and I fifth wheeled at the top. I felt more depressed than ever.

I removed the pillow from above my face and stared up the ceiling. My mind began to replay the events of last night for the hundredth time.

*the night before*

"Delnaz, please, wait, listen to me!"

"Leave me alone, Fuad," I snapped. I was not in the mood to argue and besides, we weren't even together. How could I play 'the jealous girlfriend' anyway?

"That was not what it looked like, I swear."

"Fuad." I turned around to look at his pleading face and felt bad for treating him this way. Then I remembered how he held Aynur so close to his body.

*puking noise on cue*

"Yes?" His face still held that annoying, pleading expression.

"Why are you following me?"

"You seem angry...Angry because well..."

"Well?"

"Why are you angry at me?"

"Who said I was angry at you?"

"So you aren't angry at me?" He scratched the back of his head and looked around confusedly while walking towards me. Fuad stood in front of me and raised his eyebrows, a smirk forming on his face. "An answer would be nice, babe."

"Shut up. If you're trying to be a player then you're failing."

Fuad's smirk dissolved. "Delnaz, just answer the question. Are you mad at me or not?"

"No."

"One-hundred percent?"

"Hm."

"Then come to dinner. You can sit next to me if it makes you feel better."

I glared at Fuad's back as he walked back to the eating area. He didn't seem to notice that I wasn't following him so I simply turned around and and made my way back to the dorms. I wasn't hungry anyway.

He can have Aynur if he wants. I don't care...

*the present*

I rolled over onto my side, to yet again be snapped at by my best friend. She was being in a bad mood for me.

"Delnaz, get out of bed already!"

In a sudden burst of inspiration, I jumped off the third rung on the ladder, startling Yıldız, "Sorry. I think I'm ready to face the world. I think I'm gonna go shower."

~●○●~

I chose a pair of blue denim shorts, black and white converse and a red top.

"Babe, you look stunning. Now for hair and make-up and hair."

Zulfiyya's finishing touches lasted only 10 minutes.

Pshtt who am I kidding...That's a long ass time in kid years.

"Wow, Deli you look...Hot." Yıldız winked at me.

"Thanks..."

"What's the matter? Did I say something wrong?"

"No..."

"Delnaz," she gave me a stern look and raised her brow. "If something's up you need to speak to us, alright? Don't keep your feelings bottled up. We're here for you."

"Uh huh..."

My friends pulled me to the side and sat me down.

"What happened last night?" Zuzu squeezed my shoulder and Yıldız stroked my hair.

"Delnaz, please talk to us," Yıldız gave me puppy eyes. "Friends are here to listen to each other's crap. C'mon."

"Okay, fine. Listen up," I rolled my eyes and began to tell my friends about last night's happenings.

Fuad's POV

"You are a fucking idiot, you know that?" Rizvan growled as he grabbed my collar.

"Guys, cut it out, I'm trying to sleep."

"Shut the fuck up, Cihan. You are of no help. Dick," I glared at the half-asleep idiot before turning back to Rizvan who was still holding onto my collar. "Back the fuck off, will you?!" I pushed my best friend off me and flopped down on my bed. "I didn't mean to hurt her, I didn't mean to hurt anyone."

"You were a total jerk. Trying to be a damn player at the worst time. I'm warning you, Fuad Altan, if you hurt Delnaz I will hurt you. That's a fucking promise. Delnaz is like a sister to me," Rizvan ran an arm through his hair. "And sorry guys, I'll be stuck with Aynur and Feriha before Nurse Gizem discharges her."

We all groaned.

"Aynur is the cause of so many problems right now." Mazhar commented. He picked up a white vest and threw it at Cihan. "Get up unless you want to miss breakfast, hash browns, sausages and scrambled eggs." He sang the last part and resumed digging in his bag.

"Food?" Cihan's eyes lit up. He threw his blanket off and scrambled to dig in his bag for... A pair of torn jeans. I doubled over, tears began to stream down my face at the sight of the hobo.

"Wait till we tell Yıldız that her boyfriend is actually that thing," I said, pointing to Cihan. Nobody laughed.

"The joke would've been funny if it didn't come from you," Rizvan turned to Cihan, "This ass is right You need to shave and put a shirt on. If I were Yıldız, I'd break up with you." That caused a few grunts and laughs to escape from my hypocritial friends' mouths.

"Bro, I wouldn't even date Cihan." another round of hysterical laughter was caused by Mazhar. We watched as Cihan's expression turned from sour to concerned.

"You really don't think that Yıldız would break up with be just because-"

"You're wearing old sandals, a white sleeveless vest and torn jeans and your facial hair is a bit over the limit?"

Cihan scowled at Rizvan. "You guys are dicks. And yes." The group cracked one last time before settling down.

"She would probably leave you, knowing her," Orhan joked.

"Whatever. I wouldn't let that happen. I'm gonna go freshen up before breakfast. See you dicks there."

I rolled my eyes and make my way to the door. I need to apologise to Delnaz.
