Chapter 23

“Dances are boring,” I muttered, throwing my volleyball into the air and caught it when it came down.

I was on my bed, throwing my ball up and repeated the same process over and over again as Fara, Aqua and Sakura got ready for the dance. The guys were getting ready in their own ‘male rooms’ while the girls decided to use mine as one of their own.

“It’s a shame Red’s not coming,” Fara frowned, completely ignoring me as she pressed her dress to her body.

“Lucky bastard,” I muttered under my breath before sitting crossed legged on my bed, sighing. “It’s a dance, Skylar,” Fara scolded me, “It’s not like its end of the world, you know,”

I rolled my eyes as Aqua emerged from the bathroom, her silky white gown hugging her body perfectly as it ended slightly above her knees. “So…how does it look?” She drawled, giving us a twirl.

“It look so pretty on you, Aqua,” Sakura smiled. Aqua beamed shyly before her eyes glistened, remembering something.

“I did some research, not long ago,” she started, heading over to my bed before sitting down. “Siliken’s not actually a planet,”

“Whut?” The ball that I threw up landed on my head, causing me to curse as I bit my tongue.

“It’s not a planet,” Aqua repeated confidently, “it’s a dimension. Just like Amnestia. That’s why I’ve been pondering why the humans had never heard of the planets Amnestia and Siliken. They’re actually dimensions,”

“To hell with dimensions and planets,” Fara rolled her eyes, “we’re still gonna get it back,”

Sakura helped levitate the ball back to me as I started throwing it up in the air again. This time, I stared after the ball, narrowing my eyes into stilts and it burst into nothing but air after that.

“What the fuck?” Fara jumped, glaring at me. I shrugged at her in a way to say that I wasn’t really sorry. “What are you doing?” Aqua questions as I twirled my hand around the place where the ball burst. “Regenerating,” I shrugged again.

She laughed, “You can’t do-”

Half way through her sentence, the air around my hands started to become tighter and tighter before I jerked it down, bringing a volleyball down with it. Licking my lips, I threw it into the air again, only for Fara to catch it mid-way.

“Skye,” she glared at me, “you’re supposed to be getting ready for the dance,”

“I’m not going,” I muttered.

“Yes, you are,” she challenged, “after all the things that Daniel has done for you-”

“Give this night a chance,” Sakura smiled, her violet eyes singing to me behind Fara.

I sighed, looking at Fara, Sakura and Aqua over and over again, “I’ve given away too many chances,” I sighed, angling myself to look outside the window.

I heard Sakura and Aqua sigh as Fara muttered some colorful language under her breath.

“C’mon, let’s go,” Aqua said and I could picture her tugging the rest. “….Best night ever,” I could hear the cheerfulness in Sakura’s voice as they practically skipped out of my room.

“Don’t do shit you’re gonna regret, Gray,” Fara muttered, her voice edgy but soft, “you’re never gonna have an experience like this again. It might even be our last night together,”
