Chapter 12

It was scary, honestly. Knowing the fact that my mate was not devoted towards me and would find pleasure in harassing others. But it was also my fault, for not letting him in easier. If I could have just trusted him and then this feeling of guilt and emptiness wouldn’t be engulfing me. I guess it wasn’t that bad, knowing that he was no longer a distraction towards me. My chest heaved up and down as I made up a decision that I would approach Jack when I had him alone and would smack rejection in his face.

Not that he would care after smacking rejection in mine.

My eye twitched as I felt someone or something breathing into my face.

“Skye…” the breathing continued as a frosty air smacked itself against my face.

“Dammit! Shut your trap!” I snapped and still closing my eyes, I lifted my hands, trying to feel something in front of my face and collided with something soft. Not caring who or what it was, I gave it a mighty push as I heard it tumbling back. Smiling in satisfaction, I pulled the duvet over my head.

Agitation built itself inside of me as I felt my bed sinking down and I was ready to give it a good lecture to never disturb anyone who was sleeping; also adding the fact that he or she should learn some manners and respect other people’s privacy.

Pulling on a straight face and flipping the duvet over, I open my mouth, ready to start yelling.

Daniel’s ice blue eyes widened and he blinked. Staring blankly at his face, I realized that he was hovering above me with his hands on each side of my head.

“Hi,” he breathed out cheekily, playfulness flashing in his eyes.

My face fell and I twitched my nose and watched him as he pushed himself off of my bed before standing awkwardly in the centre of the room.

Yawning and sitting up on my bed, I still had that blank stare on my face as I studied him.

“You woke me up,” I said flatly after a few moments of silence. He shrugged and jerked his head towards a wall clock that was hung up against the white walls. After glancing at the clock, I slowly turned my head to face him again, “it’s 7 in the evening. So what?” I questioned, still having that sleepy aura around me.

Daniel shrugged again and waited until my foot touched the floor. “I dunno. Dinner, I guess,”

“Dinner?” I repeated, rubbing my eyes. “Shuntaki mushrooms! Dinner!” I exclaimed and jumped off of my bed frantically running towards my luggage and digging out some jeans and a white shirt. Also grabbing a towel, I whipped around to see Daniel who had a smirk on his face as he sat on his bed. “What’s so funny?” I gulped, still processing my events for the night.

His smirk widened, “calm down, Skye. The dinner’s at 8,” he calmly explained before picking up his book and started reading it.

“You made me have a frantic mental breakdown and then suddenly and calmly explain that the dinner’s an hour from now?” my left eye twitched as Daniel looked up from his book before nodding curtly and looking back down at his book.

“Ahh…I see,” reaching behind into my luggage, I pulled out a metal rod that I keep for ‘protection’ and fiddling it in my fingers, I flung it towards Daniel, and he looked up from his book with a flat face as the rod collided with his head.

“Was that supposed to hurt?” he asked, licking his lips. Still in my ‘throwing’ position, my eye twitched.

“That was supposed to be a metal rod!” I exclaimed, bewildered.
