"How was he?" Phil asks. You were at the hospital visiting your father and Phil had offered to walk you there. You accepted his offer. He had let you visit your father but he had been waiting outside. He claimed that he wanted to make sure that you made it there and back alright. You thought it seemed a bit ridiculous. You had been to the hospital more times than you could count. Then, there were also the times when your mother had to come for an ultrasound when she was pregnant with you. Plus the time when you were born. Those technically speaking count... even though you can't remember.
It wasn't like Grey's Anatomy when Meredith basically lived in the hospital when she was young. It didn't seem like that at all. You wouldn't want to live in a hospital. You were almost never ill as a child, so you didn't come often. Except that one time when you wouldn't stop coughing, so you went to the hospital with your father. They just gave you a prescription and ice cream. It was some kind of fruit ice cream. The ice cream was delicious and the prescription had helped a lot. No, your childhood was practically hospital-free. Your frequent hospital visits started when F/N started getting sick. Then it was Dan (for a couple of hours), you (probably a couple of days after the accident), and now your father.
"He was okay, I guess. You can't really tell how he's doing since he's in a coma," you tell him.
You both leave the hospital and start to walk back to your flat.
"That's good," he smiles, "How are you doing?"
"I'm not okay. I don't want to drive anywhere, yet. I still don't like loud noises because they scare me and remind me of the accident. So, I think therapy might help me," you admit.
"You'll get better," he assures you tightly squeezing your hand, "You're going to be okay,""Thank you," you give him a small hug. He hugs you back. You both stand there in the middle of the pavement, hugging. It felt right.
Nothing else was right in your life except when you were with Phil.
"Get a room!" someone yells laughing. You look up slightly blushing.
"Christopher? Grace?" you let go of Phil to give your brother a hug.
"Hi Y/N!" Grace smiles at you giving you a hug.
"I thought you two were coming back tomorrow," Phil smiles standing next to you.
"Mum told me about what happened and we all came back," Christopher explains.
"He proposed the day before we found out," Grace exclaims.
"Congrats! I'm glad you said yes. Did you decide when to have the wedding?" you congratulate them.
"We were thinking about having it in November. We were thinking to have it in Virginia," Grace tells you.
"We both have family that live in Virginia and Virginia looks really nice around that time," Christopher adds.
"That sounds nice. We will help you with anything to prepare for the wedding," you assure them.
You all walk back to your flat.
"Thanks," Grace gratefully smiles at you, "I've already been looking into weddings since before the proposal. I found some nice dresses," she starts talking about her plans for the wedding. Her eyes seem to grow bigger with enthusiasm when she talks about it. You can tell that she is happy about it. You glance at Christopher. He watches Grace talk.
You can tell that truly loves her. The way he talks to her is different than the way he talks to anyone else. He looks at her in a loving way. It is different than they way he looks at you, your mum, or any of his old girlfriends. He had about five girlfriends before Grace, mind you.
Apparently, your pupils widen when you look at someone you love and Christopher's pupils definitely seem larger.
You can only dream of someone looking at you the way Christopher looks at Grace. You have dreamed about your wedding would look like. The thing is, you could never imagine what your husband would look like. Mainly because looks weren't that important. You mainly cared about his personality.
Your husband had to be nice. You wanted him to be able to make you smile when you had a bad day. He had to get along with your family because you didn't want to have awkward holidays with him and your family. That would be awful. You needed him to listen to you and offer advice when needed. He had to be willing to make compromises. He couldn't be out with his mates all day and just leave you alone. But them again, he couldn't spend all his time at home doing nothing. He had to be willing to go places with you. Most importantly, he had to be there to support you.
You stop walking.
You realize that you just described someone you knew.Phil Lester.
