We came here
To our homeland
Seeking treatment
For ailments
Not recognized by the
Greater world
Right off the bat
We faced adversity
Lower than promised
Dump disguised as a
4-star hotel
Treatments that
Took days to figure out
And perfect
For each person
Through trial
And sometimes
Painful error
Allergies to past
And unknown reasons
Sprang up
PTSD threatened it all
And as I slammed
My left hand into
Concrete with an iron handled
Pounded door
The first of two injuries
In 3 weeks
Words I never
Thought possible
I said through clenched teeth
"I wish I never came to Israel"
It was all too much
Could we call it quits
Admit defeat and leave?
Absolutely not!
The world resilience
Came to mind
I've had worse
Much, much worse
2 years spent in bed
Nearly died
Got spared
So I could live out
My purpose
Now laying among the palms
Quitting is not in my vocabulary
This blood don't run
Does my body itch
Sure
Do the flies bite like bitches
Hellz yeah
Does my hand ache and turn different colors
You betcha
But by the grace
Of Hashem
I'm here
I'm alive
I'm in Israel
And I'm not leaving
Until I've finished
What I came here to do!
