When your voice
Has been locked
Away in the
Silence
Of your own body
Sometimes it's OK
To talk to strangers
It's a release
To have a conversation
With people
You may not
See again
Then again
New friends
Are made that way
A face to face
Is just so important
In our technology-based world
It's a healing
Of the soul
Shows that
The personality
Is still very much alive
Within the being
The illness has not
Extinguished all
You say things
That may be
Stupid
Silly
TMI
But for the first time
Maybe ever
You don't care!
How's that for weird?
Your voice takes flight
And you laugh at
Yourself
How unabashedly awkward!
And yet you still don't care!
Sometimes it's OK
To talk to strangers
Because they get
The you out of you
You forgot or
Didn't know existed!
Wow!
And what could be
Cooler for a voice
Long stifled
By the darkness
So don't be
Afraid if you
Meet someone
In a grocery store
On a cruise
At the gas station
Or on the subway
No one said become
Best friends
But sometimes
Just sometimes
It's OK to talk
To strangers!
