Bella P.O.V
That night after Alice left my room, Edward came back to get ready for bed. While he got ready, I sat there just thinking about what she told me. Should I tell him that I know about his plan with Martin? Or should I just keep it to myself?
"You're awfully quiet tonight," he said as he sat down next to me on the bed. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I'm just a little exhausted and sore," I said with a small smile. "What have you been doing all day?"
"Catching up with the men, we're making a plan for Jacob's men," he said. For a moment, I have hope that he will tell me what the plan was. He seemed to see this hope in me and smiled. "You shouldn't worry about it, okay?"
Resigned, I nod and smile at him. "Okay."
"There's also one other thing we have to talk about," he said, taking my hand in his. "It's about my parents."
"Your parents?"
He nodded. "Yes, my parents. They are aware of our situation." He motioned to my stomach. "And well, you have not met my mother yet and she will very much like to meet you."
"Your mother?" Oh, God, what am I to say? We've never met before and now when we do I am pregnant with her son's baby and have an army of men behind me ready to attack at the very first opportunity. "Do you think it will be proper...? I mean, what does she think of me?"
"She does not think ill of you, if that's what you're afraid of," he said with an assuring tone. "I've talked to her about our past and our present situation and well, you're the only woman whom I've ever showed interest on."
I frown. "What is that suppose to mean?"
He chuckled. "Well, during my stay at Seattle, there were a few offers of marriage."
"To you?" I've never heard of such a thing. It's suppose to be the man who has to make the offer, not the other way around.
"Well, not directly to me. My parents received many offers of an arranged marriages for me with rich men's daughters. I was forced to meet them but I had the choice of whether or not I wanted to marry one of them. I always said no. There were, I admit, very charming ladies but none of them ever got you out of my mind."
"Did your mother want you to marry?"
"Yes, of course she did and she was very disappointed when we came back to Portland and I did not have a wife."
Wow, I would have never thought of such a thing. Edward is handsome for sure, I never imagined the Cullen's would want him to marry.
"We will meet with our families tomorrow for breakfast," he said. "Only if you feel well enough to do so, of course."
"I think I will be fine," I said. "I don't want to be rude, this is their home."
"And mine also."
I nod. "Yes, it is."
The very next morning Edward made sure to let me know that he did not wish for me to change into normal clothes. Not even when I said I wanted to look presentable for his parents, he still said no. He just gave me his robe and said that his parents did care what I wore to breakfast. After all, I was still recovering from my almost miscarriage.
My abdomen still felt a little sore when I got up from bed. My legs, however, were stiff and it felt good to finally stretch them.
Edward helped me down the great set of stairs to the great hall. The house was very beautiful. I've only seen a part of it at the Ball when Edward came back but I was too busy being an emotional wreck to acknowledge the beauty around me.
