Bella P.O.V

I ignore my father calling my name and run out of the ballroom, straight home. I do not look at anyone who try to stop me, I ignore their calling me. I ignore everything and run. I even ignore Nana as she yells my name when I run inside the mansion but I ignore her and run straight to my room.

Once I'm inside, I lay against the door, locking it behind me. I let out a deep sigh of relief when I'm alone in my room, finally. I walk to my mirror, pulling the pins out of my hair, letting the curls fall down my chest. I don't bother taking a shower, I'm too mentally tired.

I lay in bed, ignoring Nana knocking on the door. After a few minutes without response, she leaves but unfortunately, the silence doesn't last long enough after Papa comes to my door, asking me to open the door and have a civil conversation. He even dared to mention Mr. Jacob and how he wants to work it out with me. I didn't answer either. Emmett was the last one who came to my door but I did not answer either. He wished me goodnight and left.

It did not surprise me that Edward did not come to my door. I did not accept Mr. Jacob's proposal but I also did not say no. That may be a mistake. I should've said no, I should've accused him louder but I didn't.

I lay on the side of my bed, looking off at the darkness in my room. It's so quiet. Everyone must have gone to sleep. I can see the events of tonight being the gossip of the town. Not that I care, they would only take about Jacob, not me. Hopefully.

Just then, when I was close to falling asleep, a sound catches my attention. I sit up on my bed, looking around. The sounds happens again but I'm not sure what it is. It comes from the window. I grab the candle next to my bed and slowly make my way to the window.

I gasp, stepping aside when something moves outside. I lean against the wall, gripping the candle holder harder, raising it up, ready to struck whomever goes through that window.

Just then, Edward busts in my room, falling on the floor, rolling around. I laugh, covering my mouth so no one will hear. I hear him groan on the floor as he rolls over his stomach.

I walk to the window, shutting it closed.

"Are you okay?" I ask him. I kneel next to him and brush his hair off his forehead. "A little too drunk?"

He laughs. "Don't be silly, I barely had anything to drink." He sits up and adds, "And, for your information, the party was canceled after your spontaneous run out. That was the shortest party I've ever been to."

I laugh. "Well, I'm glad his little act didn't last long." I stand up, offering him my hand. "Up." I pull him to his feet, with a little help from him since I'm not that strong. "I thought you were mad at me," I said.

"Why would I be?" I raise an eyebrow. "Oh, because of that? Bella, I would never be mad at you. In fact, I'm glad you left him standing there like an idiot in front of the entire town. I would've liked a straight no, but the look on his face was priceless."

I walk closer to him. "You seem pretty happy of his misery," I point out.

"Oh, me? Of the man who is known for sleeping with half the country and was now reject from one of his many conquests in front of the entire town? No, not at all." He sits down on my bed and adds, "A little amused, yes."

I chuckle. "I am not one of his many conquests as you say but I'm glad I've amused you." I sit next to him. "My father is not going to forgive me for this."

"He broke the promise, Bella, not you," he says. "Plus, it's insane he'll make you marry someone you do not love. Even, you know your father, do you seriously think he'll force now that you said no?"
