Bella P.O.V
One Week Later...
We were finally home. Edward and I had arrived last night to Portland after a week of inspection and waiting. We didn't know if Jacob's men would want to avenge their leader and we couldn't risk it. We had a huge disappointed when they didn't do a single thing. According to the mayor in Seattle, the men went back to Chicago.
This could be a new start for those people. If they kind a kind and rightful leader they can finally live happy lives and not live the way I witnessed in my short time there. So after we were sure everything was safe, we went back home.
Edward hasn't told me much about what happened that day and I won't ask. It was obviously too much for him for the simple fact he killed Jacob. I know no matter how much Edward hated him, he would have wished someone else finished Jacob off instead of him.
I'm shaken awake my Edward. He placed a kiss on my shoulder and pulled my hair away from my face. I smile, rolling on my side to face him.
"Good morning," I smile with my eyes closed.
He smiled back. "Good morning, Love." He cupped the side of my face with his hand and with the other he stroked my belly over the white cloth of my white gown. "How did you sleep?"
"Very well, actually," I answer.
"Open your eyes," he ordered with a soft tone.
I open them and look straight at his green eyes. He looked thoughtful, very thoughtful as he's been this past week. I run my hands over his shoulders and lean closer to him.
"Something is troubling you, what's the matter?" I asked.
He sighed. "There's something we need to talk about." I slightly nod, hoping my silence will encourage him to talk to me. "It's about Martin."
I would be lying if I said I haven't been wondering what happened to Martin. I haven't heard anything from him in a long time. I do want to know what happened but I also know Edward is not very fond of him right now.
"What brought this on?" I asked.
"I think you should know what happened," he simply said, his eyes traveling down to my stomach. "Jacob ordered him to finish me. Martin followed orders and we fought. I was convinced either one of us will end up dead at the end of the day. I just didn't know who or how. That was until he saw my wedding ring, I guess, he had a change of heart."
"What do you mean a change of heart?"
"I mean that Martin let go of me and he went after Jacob instead. While they were fighting, I took advantage and killed Jacob."
I swallow. "What happened after?"
"The men in black left," he said. "Martin stayed behind. He didn't apologize or anything, he simply asked for you. I would lie to you if I tell you I wasn't pissed when he asked and I did punch him but I realize that, after all, we both loved the same woman we were both willing to die for." He looked at me in the eyes. "We talked. I told him that because of his actions he couldn't be anywhere near you or our child. Surprisingly, he agreed to that and agreed to his banishment off Portland and Forks. He just wanted one little thing in exchange."
"And that was?"
"He wanted to say goodbye to you."
"And you agreed to that?" I would be very shocked if he did.
Edward chuckled. "No, of course I didn't agree to that. I told him to leave immediately." He paused. "Then two days ago Oscar came. He said he'd talk to Martin and asked me to please just allow him to say his goodbyes. Martin knows where he went wrong and he's willing to accept the consequences. He just wants to say goodbye." He then paused and looked away. "I honestly didn't want to agree."
