"Sit still so it can scan properly," Dr. Anne ordered.
"Ok," I sat as still as I could. There was a weird helmet on my head and it felt really uncomfortable. The scanner let out a beep and flashed a red light. I gulped slightly. Dr. Anne tapped the screen attached to the scanner a couple times.
"Ok it says something is affected but not fatally. Ok...I'm going to see what the problem is and I'll be back with the results," Dr. Anne said. My eyes threatened to let out tears. There was something wrong with me because of my carelessness. I could only manage a nod. Dr. Anne took the 'helmet' off my head and put away the gear. Then, Dr. Anne left the room.
"There is something wrong," I whispered.
"Kirstie it's probably nothing," Mitch comforted me.
"No...the machine said something is affected. It could ruin tour, Mitch. I could ruin tour," I murmured.
"Kirstie please don't say that. Look, I know there is something wrong and I can't deny that. But you aren't going to ruin tour. She said it wasn't fatal and it probably isn't permanent either. You'll be fine," Mitch said.
"I don't know," I said quietly.
"I really don't know how to cheer you up now...oh wait...yeah! Come on Kirstie let's sing! That makes both of us happy all the time," Mitch said nudging me. I shrugged lightly. Mitch's smile turned into a frown and I hated seeing him sad. I sighed deeply.
"Silent night. Holy night. All is calm. All is bright," I sang. Mitch instantly smiled and joined in.(I know it's not Christmas now or in the story but like this is the only songs can think of that I'm not using later on in the story. So...deal with it. Jk sorry😂)
"Round yon virgin mother and child. Holy infant so tender and mild. Sleep in heavenly peace. Sleep in heavenly peace," we sang together until I felt really dizzy. I almost fainted and fell onto the floor but Mitch grabbed me and pulled me close.
"Ugh...I feel really dizzy," I said. I leaned against him and he wrapped his arms around me.
"Do you know why?" Mitch asked. I shook my head. Dr. Anne walked in with papers and a worried face on.
"But we might find out now," I said.
"So you found out, huh? I'm sorry, Kirstin. I know it's a shame especially with your tour coming up. I'll explain it what happened," Dr. Anne said to me but she turned to Mitch to explain.
"When she hit her head she barely grazed the part of her brain that controls her voice. Luckily it hasn't affected her talking but it has affected her singing. When she sings she'll experience dizziness, next headaches, then her voice will start cracking, finally if she keeps going...she'll pass out and possibly enter a coma," Dr. Anne said to Mitch.
"She sang earlier and she was fine. It was just now she started to feel dizzy when she sang," Mitch argued.
"It takes time for even a negative thing to take place. I'm sorry Mitch but you can't let Kirstie sing past the point where she gets headaches," Dr. Anne said. Mitch tensed a little and I could feel it because he was still clutching me.
"When does she get headaches?" Mitch asked.
"Almost immediately she'll get dizzy...like now. 30 minutes after straight singing she'll get headaches. After 1 hour of straight singing her voice will crack multiple times. After 2 hours of straight singing she'll pass out and either wake up after a while or fall into a coma," Dr. Anne said.
"How long is this going to last?" Mitch asked.
"About 3 weeks," Dr. Anne said looking at her papers.
"I'm gonna ruin tour," I whispered. The dizzy feeling I had disappeared but tears were welling up in my eyes.
"Is there anything we an do to stop it? Anything?" Mitch asked desperately.
"No...I'm sorry. Sign these papers and sign out in the front," Dr. Anne said sadly while handing Mitch the papers. She walked out of the room and I cried into Mitch's shirt. Mitch turned so could hug me better.
"I'm sorry, Kirst. I'm sorry," he said but his voice trailed off. I'm gonna ruin tour, I thought. That was all I could think of.Sorry if this sucks! Love you peeps! Thanks for putting up with the long waits! Peace Out Peeps!
