"Hey when is Kirstie gonna answer the door?" I asked.

The door bell rang like a million times already.

Kirstie always answered the door after the first bell though.

If she didn't answer it meant she was out of the house or something was wrong.

The thing was though she was in the house so the second option was taken into account.

Just noticing the problem, Kevin stopped playing the cello.

"Maybe she can't," Kevin suggested.

"Should we help her?" I asked.

"Of course we should! She has done so much for us already," Kevin said.

We both got up and I started to head up the stairs.

I slowly opened the door to the living room.

"Hey Kirstie. Are you ok? Do you need us to answer the d-" I said.

I stopped in my tracks because I saw Kirstie on the floor bleeding from a gash at the back of her head.

The wet towel laid down next to her.

A bloody corner on the fireplace.

Her hands were covered with blood.

Her head was coated in blood.

We had to stop the bleeding.

This never would have happened if I had washed he floor and waited to do a sound check till later, I thought.

I thought it was my fault.

Maybe it was.

Mitch and Scott just opened the door and I saw Mitch crying.

"What? What happened? Why did you stop Avi? Is that Mitch? Is Scott here too? Why is Mitch crying? Where is Kirstie? What happened to her? Did she get hurt? Tell me!" Kevin half yelled.

"I think it's better if you see so yourself," I said.

I got out of the doorway so Kevin could see.

I stepped into the living room and looked back at Kevin.

There, in Kevin's face, I saw the shock he just took in.

I was shocked too to be honest.

It's all my fault. If I did a sound check before the party. If I was the one to wash the floor. Out of all the people to get hurt it had to be Kirstie. If only I hadn't asked to do the sound check. I shouldn't be so dependent on Kirstie. She can only take so much. It's my fault, I kept ranting in my head.
