"Mitch..." Kirstie mumbled loudly in her sleep.
"Kirstie?" I asked. She squeezed my hand and I squeezed it back. Then Kirstie started crying. First little tears then they were all streaming down her face. I let go of her hand and started to panic. What do I do? I asked myself. Kirstie's eyes snapped open and she shot up in bed. She took one look at me and embraced me in a tight hug.
"Mitch!" Kirstie practically yelled. She hugged me so tight. It was like I died and came back to life. Maybe I did in her dream. I hugged her back and we stayed like that for a long time. She started crying again.
"It's ok Kirstie. It's ok," I assured her. I patted her back.
"I'm so glad you're ok," she said. She took deep and shaky breaths.
"Me? You should be worried about yourself. You hit your head pretty hard," I said. She let go of the hug and looked at me with questioning eyes.
"What?" Kirstie asked.
"Your head," I said.
"Where?" Kirstie asked. I gently brought up my hand and lightly brushed the top of her bandage. Kirstie winced a little and hugged me again.
"You ok?" I asked.
"Yeah...thank you Mitch," she said.
"For what?" I asked. She let go of the hug. Then Kirstie looked me in the eyes. Her green ones made me stare back. She had beautiful eyes. At first they looked brown but then they looked green. A different lighting could change her eye color. I loved it. I loved her.
"For always being there for me," she answered. She smiled and I smiled back. I gripped her hand in mine and pushed her bangs back. Kirstie giggled a bit and I chuckled. Then there was a small moment of silence. Before I knew it I was leaning in and she was too. I kissed her and she kissed me back. It was an amazing feeling. It was so long ago I felt like I last kissed her. My hands found her hips and her arms wrapped around the back of my neck. When we pulled away she smiled and Kirstie pulled me into a another hug.
"Thank you for being my best friend," I said.
"Mitch?" Kirstie asked.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Should we tell the others about...us?" Kirstie asked.
"Best we keep it a secret...for now. Although we never can keep secrets. Remember on my birthday you guys were planning a surprise party but you accidentally told me," I answered. Kirstie nodded and we smiled again. We heard footsteps running up the stairs and we both looked at the door and let go of each other. I let go of her hand and backed up a little. Kirstie wiped away her tears and made it look like she just woke up.Sorry this sucks! And seriously thanks for 120 views! I never thought that this story would even get 10.
