Percy's Point of viewAfter I got back to camp I helped Luke with his powers, after that I was walking back through camp when I was intercepted by Artemis. Judging by her expression she wasn't happy. When she reached me she said, "Perseus"
I replied, "Artemis"
she said, Perseus I noticed a boy that looked a lot like you at the archery range, can you explain that?"
Based on the sound of her voice and the look on her face she was holding back anger until I answered her.I would rather not have to fight her or anything so I simply said, "he is my son, Luke Charles Smith; he got to camp a couple of days ago."
Her face hardened she said, "Perseus you were the one god I thought would be able to restrain yourself..."
I interrupted her It may not have been the smartest thing to do but I said,"I thought so too until I met his mother, and since I know that's what you are so concerned about I will say this, I swear on the river Styx that I have never and will never take advantage of her or any other woman."
Thunder boomed sealing the oath one that I am sure that I will be able to keep. The anger left Artemis's face after that and she said, "I'm sorry Perseus I shouldn't have doubted you."
I said, "its fine Artemis, I understand that as goddess of maidens it is only natural for you to be concerned for the welfare of any woman, and since you are used to seeing the worst of men, you would fear that I had harmed her."
I talked to Artemis for a minute, I said that I would try and help keep the campers in line so they wouldn't do anything stupid and anger the hunters or Artemis for that matter, but with the children of Hermes around well I couldn't make any promises.
Although most of the older campers knew not to mess with the hunters, some of the younger ones might not realize what they would be getting themselves into if they tried anything. Even I have to admit the hunters are fierce fighters and their pranks are even worse. If they decide to prank the campers I just hope they like me enough to leave my cabin out of it. In case you are wondering why Artemis the man hating goddess was so quick to forgive me and then apologize for jumping to conclusions. When I helped save her from the titan atlas and befriended Zoe Nightshade, I earned her respect, it seemed that what I had done afterward hadn't changed that if anything it had increased her respect for me.
Once Annabeth broke up with me I think she had sympathy for me even though she found it hard to believe that a woman could behave like that. Ever since then we had gotten along reasonably well, I don't know if I would quite call us friends but we weren't enemies either. We didn't usually argue, and I am content with that, since unlike the other gods I wasn't usually getting shot by her arrows on a regular basis. Her main targets seem to be Apollo, Hermes, and Ares. The rest of us seem to be relatively safe.
Ever since beef head proved that the barriers had fallen there is a constant watch on half-blood hill much like there had been in my second year at camp, wow that seems like so long ago now. The only difference this time is that we have no clue what has damaged the tree, so we have no clue how to fix it.
Thalia's point of view
Once milady saw Luke it didn't take her long to figure out that he was Percy's son, Hades they look identical except for the fact that Percy usually appears to be in his twenties, but if Percy assumed a twelve year old form I think they would look the exact same. If there are any differences in their appearance, you would have to look really closely to see them. When she realized this Artemis looked annoyed like she had thought that Percy was better than that, that he wouldn't have demigod children.
When I told her what Luke had said she seemed to calm slightly but she still wanted to talk to Percy. Either Artemis didn't realize, or just didn't care when I followed her when she went to find Percy. I was curious how this conversation would go. If Artemis would end up shooting my cousin, this could be interesting.
I watched as Artemis found Percy and spoke to him it wasn't really all that interesting since Percy avoided a fight by swearing an oath on the Styx. After that they went to talking about boring godly stuff. I waited for them to finish, and then after Artemis left Percy said, "I know you're there pinecone face you might as well come out."
I thought to myself damn how did he know I was there? So I walked out of my hiding spot and walked toward him. He said, "Long time no see Thals"
so Percy and I talked for a while, we hadn't seen each other since the last time the hunters had stopped at camp and that was three years ago.
Luke's point of view
After the hunters arrived everyone went off to do their own thing, dad and Christina helped me with my powers then I headed to the sword arena but when I got there I saw something that I hadn't expected to find there. A gigantic black dog the size of a garbage truck was at the back of the arena chewing on a straw dummy.
The weirdest part though was that it was wearing a chain dog collar. When the hellhound noticed me it barked I don't understand hellhound but I think it sounded excited. Suddenly the creature leaped at me and I thought I was toast. Next thing I knew I was pinned to the ground while the hellhound was licking me like any pet dog might and it didn't seem to be in any hurry to get off me.
I tried to shove the creature off me with no luck then I heard a voice say, "Mrs. O'Leary, behave."
Reluctantly the creature got off of me. I got back to my feet and saw a guy with pale skin onyx coloured eyes, dressed completely in black with a sword sheathed at his waist. He said, "I see you've met Mrs. O'Leary."
I looked at him confused and said, "who"
hey don't judge I'm not always the brightest. The guy said, "the hellhound, she's tamed,"
He started petting the creature. I was rather shocked to be honest I said, "I thought hellhounds were monsters how can she be tame?"
the guy said, "most of them are, as far as I know she is the only tame one that there is." then he said, "oh I'm Nico di Angelo, son of hades by the way"
"Luke Smith Son of Perseus," I replied. He wasn't surprised I figured the whole camp knew about me by now. After this Nico started hacking away at the dummies I followed suit doing the same. After a while the conch horn blew for dinner. After dinner we had our usual campfire but the flames were low and were a dark colour, betraying the unease we were all feeling.
