Chapter 22

Scooter's Point of view

After we got to Alcatraz we decided that Luke and Hudson would shadow travel into the prison to find the goddesses while we would distract the two giants that were outside. Those two are the strangest giants that I had ever seen, right now they were arguing over the fact that they were wearing the exact same outfit.

They hadn't even noticed us yet since they were too busy arguing. I unsheathed my sword just waiting for when they would notice us and attack. I wondered how Luke and Hudson were doing inside, I wondered if they had found the goddesses yet and what exactly they would have to get through to find them.

Suddenly the giants stopped arguing and one of them looked at us and said: "I see you have come to witness our latest spectacle, within this place two goddesses are slowly getting weaker and weaker, by the end of the day they will fade into nothing and two new giants will rise up against you."

 Then the giant noticed Bob and said: "Titan what are you doing with that silly demigod, you should have killed him by now."

 Bob's face hardened he said, "I will do no such thing he is a friend." 

The giant spoke again, "A friend that doesn't trust you, that wouldn't hesitate to send you back to my father."

 I got worried as uncertainty crossed Bob's face.

Worried I said, "Bob he's lying I trust you I wouldn't kill you." 

That wasn't entirely the truth because if had given us the slightest indication that he was working for Tartarus we would have either attempted to defeat him or left and continued our quest without him.

But he didn't give us any reason to believe that he was lying about wanting to help us. Bob looked at me and the giants as if deciding which side he was on. When he finally made up his mind he charged but thankfully it wasn't at me.

Luke's point of view

We fought our way through the corridor, hoping to see the cell that the two goddesses were in. eventually, I spotted the same titan that I had seen in my dream standing in front of one of the cells. I assumed that had to be the one that the goddesses were trapped in. Based on the fact that his helmet had ram horns on it, and his armor was patterned with stars, I guessed that the titan was Krios, Titan of the south. 

I changed the direction that I was going in slightly in order to head toward the cell and the titan that was guarding it. Hudson noticed my change in direction and then he noticed the titan. He began to follow me as I headed toward him.

Due to the fact that my father is such a great hero I think that many expect me to be just as good as he is, I am doing my best to live up to his example but I really don't know since I got to camp I haven't really got the chance to hear the stories of what he did as a demigod, we have been too busy with this war. He must have done a lot for the gods in order to be made a god himself. Like anyone would be I was nervous, we were here we had found the goddesses now we just need to defeat a titan before we can free them. I had been told that demigods could challenge anyone as long as they are brave enough.

Am I brave enough to face a titan? Sure Hudson is here, but still, this wouldn't be easy. I don't know why Tartarus wanted the two goddesses but it can't be anything good, not for us anyway. I have to get them out of here we can't let Tartarus win. After I reminded myself of that I charged the titan hoping to catch him by surprise.

Unfortunately, his blade blocked mine and In retaliation, he swung his own at me. I managed to block it with my shield. He said, "Foolish demigod you believe you can defeat me, a Titan." I didn't respond partially because I wasn't sure if I could beat him or not I just knew I had to try.

We fought, him blocking my blows and I blocked, parried, or dodged his. I think he was surprised that I was lasting this long against him. Hudson was still fighting monsters they were probably keeping him busy so he couldn't help me with the titan.

We continued to fight, slash duck parry block repeat. I blocked another blow but instead of attempting to cut him with my sword, I lifted my shield up and hit him with it knocking him back a step.

While he was regaining his balance I stepped forward I swung at him with my sword. I had caught him off guard. I stabbed him in the chest and the titan was defeated. After the titan was gone I ran toward the door of the cell and slashed through the lock with my sword. The two goddesses were chained to the wall one of them looked like she was unconscious the other one looked to be awake but she had a gag in her mouth, there was also golden ichor on her wrists and ankles, my guess is she had tried to escape on her own. I used my sword to cut off their shackles and then Lady Piper removed the gag from her mouth.
