The Son of Time

Chapter 18

Luke's point of view

After the campfire, Chiron announced that a quest would be sent to find the two missing goddesses. Then he looked at me and said "Luke my boy, I fear this quest is meant for you, will you accept it?" not knowing what I was getting myself and my friends into I accepted. He said before you can start however you need to get a prophecy." He called out a name and a redheaded woman stood, and her eyes scanned over the crowd until they fell on me. Not talking to anyone, in particular, I asked: "what exactly is going on?"

My friend Hudson who was sitting to my right with the Hades cabin said, "when a quest is assigned the leader has to get a prophecy from the oracle in some cases the prophecy tells who is going on the quest with them but not always. She is Rachel Dare our oracle; she will give you a prophecy for this quest."

 He pointed indicating the redhead that was now standing looking at me. Now that I knew what to do I said, "How can I find the goddesses?" immediately after I spoke she closed her eyes and fell backward a camper went and caught her while another went and grabbed a stool that was standing off to the side of the amphitheatre. He took it over to where Rachel was and the other demigod lowered Rachel onto it. Green smoke began to coil around her feet and then it also began to come from her mouth. She began to speak in a voice that sounded raspy and ancient, kind of like what snakes would sound like if they could talk. She said

"Three shall go west where the goddesses lay. To ensure success they will need aid.  Son of victory and son of time will find an unexpected ally."

Everyone was silent as we considered the prophecy I had just gotten we didn't get a definite location for where the goddesses were the prophecy just said to go west. One of the Athena campers repeated the prophecy; he was saying "the prophecy just says to go west where you are supposed to go?"

Another Athena camper said, "if Tartarus has the Titans on his side maybe the old Titan base on mount Orthrys?" 

I said, "it's worth a shot but hopefully we will get a lead before we get there if we're wrong."

 Hudson said, "Get a lead, Luke you sound like you're on some cop show,"

 I blushed slightly embarrassed but I continued "Son of time is obviously me, but son of victory, Nike is the victory goddess right?"

Chiron nodded, I glanced over at the Nike kids there was only one that I had gotten to know and that I would trust to watch my back I looked over at him and asked "Scooter will you do this?"

 he said, "Sure man we can do this." 

Chiron said, "You need one more person; the prophecy said three of you would go."

 I nodded and looked over at Hudson and asked: "will you go?" He said sure I'll make sure you don't end up in my dad's realm too early."

 I said, "I think my dad would appreciate that."

Chiron told us to head back to our cabins, and that we would leave in the morning. Of course, I got a peaceful sleep before the quest right? Wrong! I dreamed. I saw to women in what looked to be prison cell they had celestial bronze shackles on their wrists and ankles one had a gag over her mouth. I knew they could only be the two goddesses that we need to rescue. The dream ended before I could figure out where they were other than being in a prison cell.

The next morning we had breakfast and then packed a few of our things, Chiron gave us nectar and ambrosia along with some mortal money and drachmas for non-mortal transactions as he put it, but I don't really know what he meant.

Argus drove us to the nearest bus station, where we began our trip out of New York, hopefully, we would get through this quest without too much trouble but I didn't have high hopes for that. I kind of wanted to stop and see my mom, but she would ask too many questions like why I was away from camp in the first place and I didn't want to make her worry about me more than she has too.

I wondered if there was another way to contact her that didn't involve phones since I had been told electronics attract monsters. And we still don't really have any idea where exactly to find the goddesses all we know is that they are in a prison cell and that it's somewhere in the west. Oh yes, we have lots to go on, note sarcasm.

That night I was doing something I had never done before, I was actually hoping I would dream so we might get a better idea where the two goddesses were. When I fell asleep my wish was granted. At first, I just saw the same cell as the night before, and then someone walked into the room.

He was tall and I guessed based on what I could see of him that he was a titan, great once we figure out where they are we will have to fight a titan, this titan appeared to be wearing a helmet like Vikings would wear with horns on it. I looked around the place seemed to look old like it hadn't actually had any prisoners in a while. Then the image changed, I was outside and in the distance, I could see a large mountain and a large bridge. The bridge was lit up even though it was night. Then I realized where the goddesses were being held.
