Percy's point of view

When I heard Christina's cry of pain I looked in her direction and saw her fall to the ground with a gaping wound in her chest, it looked like she had jumped in front of Nathan and taken the blow that would have killed him. I saw Nathan kneel on the ground beside her and hold her left hand. Christina might not be my daughter by blood but she might as well have been. I loved her just as much as I would if she had been.

Even though Luke had only been at camp a few days I knew that they had already begun to develop a sibling bond. So I knew that he wouldn't take this well either. But I knew that the person that would take this the hardest besides me would be Nathan. I knew how much he cared for her since the other day he had come to me and said that he wanted to propose to her. I had said that he could. I knew that she really loved him too. I was pretty sure that they were thinking about getting an apartment in New Athens as well, now they wouldn't be able to do any of that.

When I had come up with the idea to adopt her I knew that I would eventually lose her. My dad had also warned me about that but I had wanted to help her, and I don't regret it. I just wish she could have lived longer, been able to marry Nathan and lived a somewhat normal life in the city. I should have guessed that she wouldn't get that though, not because she didn't deserve it because she did.

Her life probably ended this way because Ares broke an oath when he didn't get her to camp when she was thirteen his punishment fell on her so her life had come to a bloody end. I wished that I could reverse time and save her but I knew that I couldn't if the fates decide that it is time for a string to be cut there is nothing anyone could do to stop it.

After Luke and I defeated Polybotes I knew that I couldn't mourn just yet. Most of the monsters that had attacked camp half-blood were gone, but when I glanced over to where I had left Annabeth and Khione. I cursed when I saw that Annabeth was gone, obviously she had new powers that we weren't aware of. So she had escaped the normal handcuffs and gone who knows where.

My next task was to help the romans with the giant Hippolytus. I have to admit I was getting tired I hadn't fought like this since I became a god. Sure I had faced both Polybotes and Hyperion as a demigod but even after becoming a god they were still a challenge. As much as part of me didn't want to I left for camp Jupiter.

I would take out the last of my anger out on Hippolytus. I appeared on the field of Mars where the battle was still going on. The Romans and amazons didn't really notice me until I grew to my full godly height and approached the giant. When I got there I could see that the romans weren't having much luck against the giant as far as I could tell they hadn't been able to injure him all they were managing to do was keep him distracted.

The two praetors, Reyna, and James were circling the giant on pegasi, but I knew that it would only be a matter of time before the giant landed a hit on one of them. As I walked toward the giant the romans and amazons parted creating a path for me. When I had switched to my Roman form I had changed my armor to Roman style armor.

In the back of my mind my emotions were a mixture of anger and sadness over Christina's death. But as my roman form I tried to push those emotions aside and put on a brave face. When I reached the giant he said Perseus Jackson, It's a pleasure to finally meet you. I just rolled my eyes all my enemies insist on doing that, acting like it's nice to meet me and then they try to kill or at least maim me.

I wasn't in the mood for idle chitchat, and when I didn't reply he must have realized that. As we fought spear to sword the praetors would occasionally swoop in and try and land a hit on him with their swords eventually I noticed the air felt different and I knew what was coming.

James was calling down lightning. He can do that since he is a son of Jupiter like Jason. And I think he idolized his older half-brother. Hippolytus was blasted by lightning, and just for good measure when I had realized what James was doing I had doused Hippolytus with water, so when the lightning struck, his clothes and all the hair that he had was singed. But he wasn't beaten, not yet at least. I continued to fight him but after the lightning he was weakened slightly so Reyna managed to stab him in his side and I stabbed him in the stomach. He disintegrated into a pile of dirt. After Hippolytus was defeated the battle was quickly won by the Romans and Amazons. I shrunk down to normal human size and Reyna and her Pegasus landed on the ground not too far away from me.

She got off her Pegasus and walked toward me, when she was close enough she bowed when she was standing up straight again she said "Lord Perseus, I just wanted to thank you for your aid in the battle, we wouldn't have won without you." I managed a small smile and a nod in response. I asked her if they had to deal with any minor gods or Titans.

She said that they only had monsters, enemy demigods and Hippolytus. While we were talking I was sure I saw a familiar legacy that I hadn't seen since twelve years ago. He was banished from the camp after he attacked me completely unprovoked. I spun around to confirm my suspicions, hey old habits die hard. Sure enough it was him Zach Stephens. Obviously he hadn't changed his ways if anything he got worse.

Once I turned Reyna noticed him too. I figured we might be able to get some information out of him or in the least prevent him from committing further crimes against us, so I clapped my hands together and celestial bronze shackles appeared on him, I made sure I used celestial bronze this time so he couldn't escape like Annabeth had if he had new powers we didn't know about.

I transported him and myself back to camp half blood, the Apollo campers were taking care of the wounded and shrouds were being prepared for the dead. Luke and Nathan were right where I had left them Nathan had finally stopped crying he was sitting there looking down at Christina sadly. As much as I wanted to do the same I said "you should probably get checked out you could be hurt." Luke answered "Dad we're fine" I relented but I did give them each a piece of ambrosia, which they did eat.

I also ate one myself, fighting a titan, your ex-girlfriend and two giants takes a lot of energy out of you even for a god. I stayed until a demigod came with a sea green and gold shroud with an hourglass, a sword, and a Pegasus on it before they took her away one tear managed to escape my eye and fell onto her. Shortly after she was carried away I returned to my palace where I got cleaned up, ate and then sat down in a chair.
