Hi! This the very first story I have ever put on Wattpad, so please read it and tell me what you think! Please vote and fan if you like it!

I would love it if readers commented on this!

P.S. This is the updated version of the prologue. If you don't get what that means, then no need to worry about it! I'm just saying I vamped the three year-old, bland one.

Thanks!

My father sounded the horn. The horrid trumpet blared through the thick humidity and screeched in my ears. Our army retreated. Thousands of bodies limped back towards our side and fell into formation with the remaining troops. The white flag of submission was mounted and raised to the heavens, bellowing in the wind as it swung rhythmically from side to side officially marking us as the ones who had failed.

We had lost. The right to our dignity and courage laid in shambles at our footsteps. And I did not even think we deserved to pick it up. This was utter defeat.

I looked up at the overcast sky just as the first drops of humility soaked through my clothes. We did not stand a chance in the first place. Yet, our foolish patriotic pride blinded us and led us to battle. We went in head strong even though there was a small, almost nonexistent inkling that knew—knew that we were heading into a one sided battle. We have lived our entire lives next to the victors of this war. We knew what they had, all their assets. We knew that going to war with them would not even put a hitch in their schedule, would not even rile them in the slightest, but did we want to listen to reason?

No.

Foolish pride was our downfall, and now we were left to suffer the consequences.

There was no denying it: Everything will change.
