The man gazed into my eyes with a fierce intensity, never wavering in his stare. I saw my reflection in his green crystal eyes.

When his hands slipped off my mouth, I breathed. “Who…who are you?” I felt like I knew him somehow…somewhere…

Without a word, he softly covered my lips again. He leaned in, closing his eyes. My heart began to pound. This stranger! How can he make my heart thunder so easily?

He moved his hand off of my mouth and before I could say a word, his lips closed on mine. My eyes widened in shock.

Heat broke out over my face, blushing furiously and sending my heart soaring to my throat.

Why am I just standing here?

Why am I frozen?

Why am I so enticed?

It was almost as if…I was enjoying it. Terrified by the thought, I mentally shook my head to rid myself of that crazy delusion.

Within a second, though, the man was gone. And I was left alone.

I sank to the ground. My body throbbed with heat and excitement. Even though the veil was between us, I could still feel the contour of his lips on mine.

I let out a breath I did not know I was holding. What just happened? A stranger kissed me…

What baffled me the most was that he had the temerity—the audacity to do that to someone of the royal family! Perhaps he did not know who I was…but he should have realized when he saved me from the mob of people.

But there was also me, the one who did nothing to push the man away or stop him…I suppose there was no time to think, or no time to act… Unconsciously, I raised my trembling hand to my mouth and gently touched it. Then I snapped my hand away.

NO. I knew what was happening the minute he made a move. What had come over me? Why did I let a random stranger do that to me when I would not even let my own fiancé do anything?

Wait, it is not as if Prince Auden would want to do anything to me…but…

Sighing with a sudden exhaustion, I held my head in my hands and tucked my knees under my chin.

Calm down. Calm down. Do not get excited. This is nothing. This is—

“Princess Eveylnn, are you alright?”

I raised my head and found Prince Auden staring down at me. His chest heaved up and down in labored breaths.

“What are you doing here?” I exclaimed with a gasp.

“The…the coachman came to me…after he returned alone. He told me that you had gone ahead to Creeyn to find help for him.” He explained while leaning over and taking in deep breaths.

“I see…but how did you get here so quickly?” I asked.

“I..I left immediately and travelled here by horse rather than a carriage.”

“How did you find me?” I scoped the area and saw that this not the type of place that you would be able to locate easily.

Giving in to his exhaustion, Prince Auden collapsed onto his hands and knees. “I ran around this entire village searching for you…I could not find you anywhere, but then I noticed some commotion not too far from here, so I came to investigate. I heard one of the commoners in the crowd speaking of their Princess, so I assumed it was you and searched this entire area. I was about to give up, but then I saw you in this alley against the wall…
