Ugh, School and Stuff

3 weeks later

Taking her books from her locker, Jess met up with her friends and walked to class. The first day of her sophomore year. She had gone through 10 other first days of school before, but none had been like this one. Kids were all looking at her and whispering things to each other. She tried to not pay any attention but it was hard when all you heard was your name being said everywhere. Jess even had some freshman girl run up to her and ask for her autograph. Apparently, she was at the concert Jess had a few days back as well as her first and second one. The second and third concert went well and there were more people each time. Jess was actually starting to develop a steady fan base. 

Waving goodbye to Jasmine, Bella and Emily, Maddy, Jaime and Jess entered math, their first class. Their highly overweight teacher looked at all of them. He had been their teacher last year too. Yippee, they just loved Mr. Maldonado so much. They were doing Algebra 2. Even more fun.

After forty-five painful minutes of math, the girls gathered their stuff to leave. But before they could, Mr. Maldonado asked to see Jess. Obediently, she came to his desk, wondering what he had to say on the first day of school.

"So Jess, I heard you had a few concerts of your own this summer."

"Yeah, I had three. How did you know?"

"Oh, one of the teachers daughters went to one of them and she told me that she recognized you as a student. I didn't know you liked to sing."

"Well, I didn't really until this summer."

"What made you start liking it?"

"Um, it was kind of Shawn Mendes, the singer I really like."

"Oh, that boy." the teacher chuckled. Last school year, Jess had told him about Shawn being her favorite music artist and loving him, so he knew about him. "Is it true that he was at one of the concerts? Mrs. Gentile said that she thought she saw him in the audience."

"Well, he was actually at all of them. He is my, uh...boyfriend." Jess gave him a slight smile. Mr. Maldonado starting laughing.

"Thats funny Jess. You can go to your next class now, I just wanted to know about the concerts." 

Jess left the room in a hurry. He didn't believe that Shawn was her boyfriend. What a jerk. Jess rolled her eyes and sighed. People these days. She walked to Spanish, finding Emily standing there, waiting with the rest of the class. They were in the same class. Mr. Grau was always late. She was about to say something to her friend when I girl maneuvered her way to Jess and interrupted.

"OMG Jess! Is Shawn actually your BOYFRIEND?!?!?!?!" Layla practically screamed.

"Yeah." Jess replied quietly. Layla kept talking, but she was not listening. Jess just wanted to get this day over with and go home.

Finally, after another six whole periods, the school day was finally over. Jess grabbed her bag and ran to the parking lot. Hopping on her new bike, she went home. The bus was too slow and her friends were no longer on it with her, so riding a bike to and from school was more efficient. Jess's house would be empty, for her mom was at work for another two hours.

Putting her bike in the garage, Jess threw off her shoes and grabbed a bottle of water. She chugged it down and went to the pantry to look for food. Pretzels, chips, goldfish, healthy crackers, WHERE WAS HER BOX OF CARMEL CHOCOLATE COOKIES?! Jess practically tore up the pantry and couldn't find her favorite cookies. Now was not a good week to be missing, cookies! 

Jess threw her hands up and growled. Stomping out of the small pantry, she walked over to the family room to watch tv and sulk about her missing cookies and below-the-stomach pains. But sitting in her spot on the couch, watching her tv, eating HER cookies, was Shawn.
