"What do you mean by he's playing us?" I asked confused.

"I heard him talking on the phone and he's intentionally coming between our friendship. He planned to get us to fight," Lexie explained.

I stared blankly at her before I started laughing.

"Are you serious?" I asked, still laughing.

"I'm completely serious," she said annoyed.

I let my laughter die off and shook my head.

"That sounds pretty ridiculous," I said.

She doesn't say anything else, so I go over to my radio and turn it on. She gets the hint and rolls her eyes before turning and making her way towards my door. She opened the door and stopped, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. She tossed it on the floor of my room before closing the door behind her.

I glanced at the piece of paper, then ignored it and went to my window. Fortunately, my window led right on to the roof. I opened my window and climbed out. From the roof I had a perfect view of the beach. I zoned out after a while and Zander's word echoed in my head.

"When summer is over what will you have left?"

I still wasn't catching on to the meaning and I couldn't let it go. After a little while longer I climbed back into my room and picked the paper that Lexie threw up. I opened it and started reading through it. I stopped when I realized what it was, the stupid promise we made up when we were younger.

I scoffed and lied down on my bed, letting the paper fall back to the ground. Unfortunately, the words kept playing in my mind. Was I really going to take advice from a piece of paper made up by second graders?

I got my answer about 20 minutes later, went I went looking for Lexie. I finally spotted her standing near the water where I tried to come earlier. I sighed and walked closer to where she was. I stopped when I was a few feet away from her.

*LEXIES POV*

"We can't let him get away with everything," I heard Nicole say.

I grinned and turned around. She finally decided to listen to what I had to say.

"Have you met us?" I asked, "we don't let people get away with screwing with us."

She let out a laugh and relied, "what are we supposed to do?"

"Revenge," I said.

Even though it was dark, the light from the moon let me see that mischievous glint in her eyes that we had in common. Revenge just happened to be one of our favorite words to hear.

"Okay, we need to go back to the house because it's cold," she said shivering slightly.

"Well, if you put clothes on," I joked.

"Maybe if you didn't have to hide outside," she shot back.

I rolled my eyes and we both walked back to the house. Nicole stopped right before we got to the house.

"We want revenge, if we want to do it right we need to act like we still hate each other," she explained.

"Okay, we need to be convincing do we can't get offended," I replied.

She agreed and we both went into the house, making sure that no one was around to notice we came in together.

*NICOLE'S POV*

I was sitting in the kitchen when Zander came in.

"Asher and Manny are coming over," he told me.
