Chapter 16: The Hospital Part 2

Evie's POV😢

"Wait! Halley, how did you know Mac was in the hospital?" I ask.

"Oh! You left your phone at your house and I listened to the voice mail Mac left. I know I shouldn't have, but you weren't there and Mac never leaves messages so I had to, I'm sorry!" Halley explains.

"It's ok Hal's Bal's! I understand!" I say.

After talking for a bit, Halley tells me to go home and get some rest. I tell her I will in a while. She leaves to go back home. After she leaves, I lie back on Macs hospital bed. Slowly, I fall asleep again.

I wake up to Mac poking me. "What the hell are you doing? What time is it??" I squeal.

"Hey Evie! Good morning to you to! I'm poking you incase you didn't know, and it's 11:25 on Saturday! And you're in a hospital bed!" Mac says.

"Duh you weirdo! Now stop poking me!! Wait! It's 11:25 on Saturday??" I screech.

"Yeah!" Mac says.

"Shit! I gotta get home!" I half scream. I jump out of the bed and as soon as my feet touch the floor I crumple.

"Shit Evie! Are you ok??" Mac says worriedly.

"Yeah I'm fine" I say through gritted teeth. I try to stand up again but I fall. Mac presses the 'nurse' button and a nurse rushes in.

"What's wrong?" She asks.

"My friend can't get up! Can you help her?" Mac tells the nurse.

"Sure, here honey!" The nurse says sweetly. She helps me up and brings me to the chair by Mac's bed. I sit down and she checks out my ankle.

"OW OW OWWW!" I scream.

"You have a sprained or broken ankle honey, you need to get this checked out!" The nurse says hurriedly.

She brings me into another room and calls in the doctor. The doctor says that I have a sprained ankle. He sets it and puts on a brace. I have to sit there for the whole day! It's so boring! I text Colton and tell him what happened and to tell our parents that I'm fine! He says he will so I relax.

At the end of the day, the doctor lets me go home, but he says I have to go to the doctor to get my ankle checked out again. I stop by Macs room to say 'Bye' but he's already asleep.

I walk in quietly and sit on the edge of the bed. I stare at him and before I know it my lips are on his! I pull away quickly, and hobble out of the room. I call Colton and he picks me up since I can't drive. When we get home I go straight to my room and flop onto my bed ignoring the knocks on my door. 'Why did I kiss him? I don't like him, well only as a friend! I liked him as a little kid but that was just a stupid crush at like 8! I don't know I'm tired!' I think. I fall asleep and just as I fall asleep, I imagine his lips on mine again.

I wake up to someone poking me again!

"Is it a habit of my friends to wake me up by poking me???!!!!! Because its pretty annoying!" I mumble angrily. I open my eyes and see Kaleigh staring at me.

"What do you mean? Who woke you up by poking you?!?!?" Kaleigh asks confused.

"Never mind! I'm glad you're here! I need to talk to you!" I say.

"About what? And what happened Evie! You have a brace on your ankle and you were gone for over 24 hours! Halley only told me you were at the hospital!!" Kaleigh screeches.

I explain everything, from the voice mail, to last night getting home. After I finish talking she freaks out.

"Omg! You kissed Mac and slept in the same bed as him! OMG my little girl is growing up!!!!!!" She squealed.

"Noooooooo! Please don't do that! I only fell asleep there cuz I was tired! What do I do!? We just became friends and I don't wanna ruin it!" I say kinda sad.

"Girl, you will be fine! He was asleep when you kissed him so he won't remember! Just don't bring it up!" Kaleigh says.

"Ok thank you Kaleigh! You're the best!" I say more happy now that the kiss is resolved.

I spend my Sunday hanging with Kaleigh. We watch TV, talk about boys, and eat junk food!! I can't go to school tomorrow because I have a sprained ankle and the doctor told me to stay off it for a couple days. Anything that gets me outta class is good though! Kaleigh leaves around 10 and I go upstairs and read until 3ish and then I go to sleep.
