~IVY'S POV~
I opened my eyes to find myself in my bed, tightly wrapped in my blankets. I wriggled about, getting out of the confines that I was put in. My door slowly opened and Michael poked his head around, making eye contact with me. "Hey," his voice was softly like he was unsure of what to do. "How do you feel?" I bit my lip looking down and shrugging my shoulders. "Shitty," A chuckle escaped his lips and he nodded in responseAn awkward silence fell over us. I wasn't sure what to say to him, I knew he had to me blaming me for scaring him to death. I looked at my feet wiggling my toes to distract me. "Oh, yeah, Ashton is, umm, downstairs if you want to see him," I instantly smiled, instantly feeling happy. I ran out the door, making my way downstairs. I landed softly on the last step looking at Ashton who was staring down at his phone.
I stepped off onto the tile making sure to make enough noise for him to hear me. He looked up and smiled. The smile on my face huge as I ran into his arms, hugging him tightly. He wrapped his arms around me, squeezing me softly. "How are you doing?" His voice was hesitant but I didn't take much notice since he made my day. "Better since you got here," He chuckled releasing me from his hug and looked at the stairway where my brother was now standing.
I looked towards Michael and frowned. He seemed as though he was looking at us, but not really, he zoned out. Ashton squeezed my arm before approaching Michael. "You okay?" Ashton reached out, just barely touching him, snapping him out of his daydream. He furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head, trying to forget what ever he was thinking about. "Yeah, just tired," He pressed his lips in a thin line, zoning back out.
I looked at Ash and shook my head, telling him to leave him alone, obviously whatever was bothering Michael, he wasn't going to tell us. Ashton nodded to the door and I quickly made my way outside, feeling slightly uncomfortable with the silence. "Hey Ivy, I know you probably don't want to talk about last night bu-," My expression cut him off, "Ashton, don't, please." He shook his head and reached out grabbing my hand. "Let me finish, I just wanted to say I'm proud of you, for not being successful."
I bit my lip watching his expression, looking for anything that showed he was lying. "And, in honor of you being amazing, I would love to take you out for a celebratory lunch," I raised an eyebrow, considering his offer. "Are you, Ashton Fletcher Irwin, asking me out on a ?" His eyes widened slightly, now letting his nervousness show, "Only if you, Ivy Paige Clifford, say yes?"
I smiled, letting his hand go and watching it fall to his side. I leaned over to his ear, teasing him as if I was going to kiss him. "Of course," I spoke softly in his ear as I felt him fidget from my actions. He pushed my away playfully, and glared, "Lets not play games like that, please?" I rolled my eyes and didn't answer, knowing he would forget that by the time we were in the car.
I stood at the passenger side of the car and looked at the seat I sat in before he took me to his house two days ago. God, I must've been so fucking needy. Ashton stood at his side of the car watching me. "Ivy?" I shook my head, forgetting about the daze I was in, and looked at him. "Sorry." I smiled nervously and opened the car door climbing in.
Ashton pulled into the parking lot of a small diner that had many cars in front of it. "Ash," I hesitantly got out of the car, walking over to his side. He hummed in response, looking towards me. "Maybe we shouldn't do this, I mean, you don't want to be seen with me," Ashton furrowed his eyebrows, trying to comprehend what I just said. "Oh my g-, Ivy, I don't care what anyone has to say, they don't know you so the can go suck a di-," I placed a hand on his lips stopping him from finishing that statement.
"Okay, we just, um go in," Ashton picked up on my hesitation and wrapped an arm around my shoulder, walking towards the door. He pulled it open, letting me walk inside before him and interlace our fingers. He walked toward the desk, talking to the host. My eyes fell down to my hand in his. It was a strange feeling, it was almost like the fit together perfectly. Ashton was pulling gently on my hand when I snapped back to what was going on around me.
He nodded towards the host who was walking through the diner, probably to lead us to our seat. We sat in a well lit area, with multiply tables around us. I tried to ignore the stares I was sure we were getting, as Ashton let go of my hand, sliding into the seat across from mine. I sat down looking at the table, feeling more uncomfortable then walking inside was. The waitress walked up, holding a notepad tightly in her hand.
"Hello, I'm Brynn and I will be your waitress today, can I start you of with some drinks. Ashton ordered his and looked at me, I let my gaze fall to the waitress and fought the urge to cry. "Umm, I-I'll have a um, coke ple-please," I quickly looked down and bit my tongue, fighting the urge to whimper. I felt Ashton's hand graze my face, causing me to look up. "Ivy, what's wrong babe?" I could see the panic that was in his face.
"It's just, it's Michael's ex, that he um, dumped befo-," She approached again, placing the drinks on the table. She glared at me as she place a drink in front of me. I looked at Ashton, who was now going into defense mode. I touched his knee under the table, stopping him from confronting her. "Are you ready to order or-," Ashton quickly cut in, "Give us another minute," She smiled at him, nodded and walking away.
Once she was out of view Ashton looked back at me, "Why did he break up with her?" I bit my lip out of habit and spoke below a whisper, "Because he found out she was bullying me," Ashton nodded his head. I tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear and Ashton grabbed a hold of my hand before I could put them back under that table. "Don't let her get to you, okay?" I nodded, letting him wrap his long fingers around mine.
Before long she approached, placing herself in a position to where her butt was right in front of Ashton. I looked up at her, with a slight amount of disgust on my face. Ashton squeezed my hand before looking towards her. He ordered and she barely even looked away from him while writing it down. Ashton looked at me, waiting for me to order. Crap, I was so scared I didn't even look at the menu.
I looked at Brynn, "Umm, I'll have whatever he is having," I guess I didn't speak loud enough because she whipped her attention towards me and shook her head. "What did you say?" The tone of revulsion in her voice cause me to jump and advert eye contact with her. Ashton sighed, getting slightly annoyed with our waitress, "She said, she would have what I am having, do I need to repeat myself?" She gasped and quickly walked away.
"Ivy, just ignore her, okay? You're here with me and I don't want anything to ruin this." I nodded, smiling softly. The food came quickly after and I realized never to order what Ashton orders. A steak was placed in front of me with a large baked potato. I stared at the food, in complete shock at the amount of food. Ashton glanced at me, and in an effort to put him at ease, I picked up a fork and began cutting the steak.
I continued picking at the food until he finished. He looked at my plate and raised an eyebrow. I smiled reassuringly, "I'm just not very hungry," Ashton's eyes filled with concern as I processed my words. "Ivy, please tell me you eat regularly." I looked around the room to notice everyone staring at me with was extremely unsettling. "Yeah," I was hoping he would drop it and surprisingly he did.
The check was placed on the table and Ashton reached out to grab it. He pulled out his wallet and I widened my eyes. "Oh, no Ashton, you don't have to pay for my meal, I got it." He chuckled lightly, looking at me with a cheeky smile on his face. "You and I both know that isn't going to happen."
I sighed, admitting defeat, "A girl can hope," He nodded, placing the check and money back on the table. He stood up and took my hand, pulling me with enough force to pull me straight into his chest. "Oops," He pretended like it was an accident, trying to play it off. "Idiot," I pushed off of him, glaring at him playfully. "Awe, love you too, babe," I smiled at the ground, that's the second time he has called me babe, it's not like it mean's anything, but it sure as hell feels like a lot.
