(IVY'S POV) **Present**
Silence. That's all they gave me. I grew slightly more agitated as the minutes passed. "Are you going to answer?" No response. Okay, fine. I rolled my eyes before turning around and reaching for the door. I heard quick step behind me and a warm hand grab my arm.
"Ivy, what are you doing?" Calum. His tone was light but hinted with worry. I sighed quietly. "I'm 'getting some fresh air," His grip tightened ever so slightly but he released it when his concerned eyes met my angered ones. I tore my out of his grip the rest of the way and left the room, slamming the door behind me.
"Ivy!" I heard a familiar chirpy females voice call to me. Lily came walking towards me with her bright eyes gleaming. "Ivy, Oh my god, are you alright? You tore out of there so fa-," I nodded my head, cutting her off by placing a hand on her shoulder. "I'm fine, I just had to check up on Ashton. It was rude of me to take off like that when you had been so kind to m-."
This time she cut me off, it this just our thing now? "Oh god no, you weren't rude, I completely understand." I smiled. This girl is so sweet but so fierce at the same time, it's quiet amazing. I exchanged a quick goodbye with her and started heading towards the door when she called my name once again.
"Yeah?" I turned to see her fidgeting with her hands. Nervous, how come. "Can we, um," She took a deep breath before finishing. "Can we exchange numbers." I laughed lightly at her anxiety over such a simple matter. I nodded and gave her my number, while she sent me a text containing hers.
We departed, and I felt the familiar cool breeze form earlier when I exited the arena. I looked around the parking lot. If I were Ashton, where would I go to get fresh air. I paced as I contemplated my better half's location. Believe it or not, I had not the slimmest idea in hell where he was.
I didn't have to. As if divine intervention, Ashton's bouncy curls rounded the corner, his expression still stern. "Ash..." I cautiously walk towards him, I've never seen him mad before. He slowly looked up, his eyes locking on mine. "Wow," He breathed as he walked closer towards me. "You look beautiful." Huh? Oh, I forgot. His anger seemed to dissipate as he walked towards me and a smile grew on his face. There's my boyfriend.
"Ivy, are you okay?" What is with everyone asking me that today. I nodded and placed a hand on his chest. He looked down at my hand, slightly confused. "The question I have is, are YOU okay?" He shook his head dismissively and smile up at me. God, I love that smile.
"Just boy issues." I laughed. What a girl response. "OH, boy issues, I understand. You know, I have boy issues all the time. Like there's this one guy that I like. And he's super cute and actually I love him." Ashton rolled his eyes playfully and pulled me into a tight embrace. "God I love you." I could barely hear it over because of the muffling that my hair caused, but that's something I wasn't going to miss hearing him say.
He release and gave me a light kiss on the forehead before taking a step back to look at me. "Absolutely gorgeous. And absolutely mine."I furrowed my eyebrows slightly. Absolutely his? Okay... He's acting strange too. Ashton's actions reminded me why I was even looking for him out here.
"Ashton, I was at the concert. Something was wrong. And when I asking your friends about it, they got super uncomfortable and refused to answer me. Please tell me what's goi-," He locked his jaw and spoke harshly through his teeth. "It's doesn't concern you. Stop nosing around," I opened my mouth, but a response didn't come out. His focus seemed to fade from on me as he stared at something past me, but I could tell he wasn't seeing anything except what was upsetting him at the moment.
He walking off without saying goodbye, or gesturing his departure. I didn't go after him. I didn't move for quite some time. I was in shock from what just happened, what he just said to me. It wasn't until I heard my phone go off that I snapped back into reality. I pulled my phone and read the notification.
Lily. I smiled when I read her name. She asked how I was doing and if I found who I was looking for. So sweet. I told her very vaguely the situation, leaving out names and most of the details. I walked around the back of the building, approaching the boys tour bus. I reached up to pull the handle, but the situation from earlier popped into my head. The awkwardness in the room was a little much for me earlier.
My phone rang, delaying my entrance, not that I had anything against that. I pulled it out and answered without reading the caller id. "Hey, Ivy." I adjusted my hold on my phone, getting it closer to me ear. "It sounds like you had a rough day. Want to meet up for coffee." Coffee. Good choice Lily. "Yeah sure, I just don't know this city real well." I heard a soft laugh from the other end of the line. "I got you. Meet me out front of the arena in 5." I agreed and hung up making my way back toward the front of the arena.
As I rounded the corner, I heard the boys bus door open and steps out of it. I stopped and peeked around the corner to see what was going on. "Come on Ashton, let's just talk about this." Calum pleaded. Ashton's hands balled into fists at his side. He turned towards Calum, who only had his head revealed outside the door.
"There's nothing to talk about. We have what we deserve. End of discussion." Calum's expression fell and Ashton stormed off. Although I was curious about the situation, I had to met Lily, so I left the hostile territory that I was in.
I reached the front and looked for the familiar car from earlier. Lily rolled the passenger window down and waved at me. I opened the car door and got inside, pulling the seat belt tight around me. She waited until I was buckled before pulling off.
I was slightly concerned with sitting in a car in silence. It's something that has always made me uncomfortable, but luckily, once we hit the road, Lily blasted the radio. She sang sweetly and softly to herself, and even though I wasn't completely to the types of songs she was listening to, I caught myself humming along.
She pulled into a small coffee shop that was only a few miles down the road. "Fire and Ice Coffee Cafe?" I asked, reading the wood worked sign out loud. She nodded, "This little cafe, has the BEST, coffee and Pumpkin Seed muffins." I nodded, but I was slightly skeptical. Pumpkin Seed muffins, I don't think so. But like my mother says, no matter what you should try anything once.
We got out of the car, walking towards the entranced. Lily nodded and waves to several people sitting outside. This girl knows everyone, holy shit. She pulled the door open to a posh looking cafe. Several couples were sitting around the room. They all seemed to have British accents just like Lily. A tall and leggy man, stood at the register, focused on counting the money he placed on the counter.
Lily walked up, leaning close to his on the counter and blew air on his ear. He jumped and starred at her like she had lost her mind before the both of them busted into laughter. ", if you're going to sell me coffee, you can't be focused on the money that isn't from me." He smiled and shook his head. He watched Lily dig through he bad for her wallet and I saw a familiar look in his eye. It's the same way Ashton looks at me. How cute.
"Well Ms. Burns," Lily smiled to herself at his comment. "If you're only going to visit me once this week, you can't expect me to know your presence." Lily finally found her wallet and placed a hand on her heart. She playfully pouted at Adam, "Are you sick of me already Ady Wady." His rolled his eyes and pushed a few buttons on the cash register.
"Would you like the usually Lily Wily," She mimicked his eye rolled from earlier and nodded. A comfortable silence filled the area between them, but all I few was severe sexual tension. I shifted my weight, my movement reminding Lily I was there. "Oh!" She gestured toward me "This is Ivy Clifford," His looked towards me and smiled, reaching a hand out for me to shake. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm Adam Willis." I replied with a quiet 'likewise.' He shook my hand and finished typing the order.
Lily insisted that I get the same as her and that I had to try his killer muffins. I pulled my money out to pay but Adam refused. "This ones on the house." Lily reached forward giving his a light kiss on the cheek before grabbing my hand and pulling me towards a high booth. I pulled myself into the chair, the cool metal catching me slightly off guard. She sat watching Adam work on our order, almost completely oblivious to the fact that I was sitting there.
I leaned forward, "So, does Miss Burns, have a thing for Mister Willis." Lily snapped back from her daze and furrowed her eyebrows. "Huh? What. Oh, nononono. I do not have a thing for-," Adam placed a coffee in from of Lily causing her to jump. She put enough force against the table that it pushed her back and if seemed slow motion what happened next.
Adam set the coffees down and grabbed a hold of her, just quick enough for her not to hit the ground. The chair clattered to the ground beneath her. I watched as she wrapped her arms around Adams neck holding tightly. I looked around the room and saw all the eyes watching her. I slowly turned back around locking eyes with Adam. 'You two are super cute,' I mouthed to him and his face turned slightly red.
Lily gradually let go of Adam and allowed him to put her down. She adjusted her clothes and hair while Adam picked the chair back up. She whispered a quiet 'thank you,' and sat back down allowing him to go back to work. She looked at her coffee for a long time before picking it up to take a sip. She looked at me and saw it all over my face what I was thinking. "Shut up," She whisper-yelled towards me.
I held my hand up in surrender. "I didn't even say anything," She shook her heard, picking at the muffin he brought her. "You didn't have to," I giggled to myself taking a quick glace towards the counter, and sure enough, Adam was watching Lily with bright eyes. I looked at the coffee in front of me and hesitantly took a sip.
"Holy shit, this is delicious!" My outburst got me a few glares from some of the surrounding tables, but I barely even notices. I took another larger sip and watched at Lily's humor at the situation. "I'm almost offended that you think I have bad taste Ivy," I shook my head and pointed at the muffin. "I think you have bad taste because you suggested to me that I eat a pumpkin seed muffin." She pointed at the muffin. "Take a bite."
I would've refuse the the seriousness in her eyes made me think better of it. I broke off a small piece at the top, seeing the pumpkin seeds in it almost made me take the chance with not eating it. I slowly popped the muffin piece into my mouth and lit up. "Holy sh-, this is even more Deliciouser," She nodded her head. "Told you so." I shrugged my shoulders and ate another bite of the muffin.
We sat there talking for about an hour. I learned about her family and the reason she has 'an expensive ass car,' as she stated. I told her what I had heard before I met her upfront and she listened patiently. After I finished, she took a minute to respond.
"So, you're living on a bus. With three people that aren't related to you. And you're an attractive and funny girl, and you don't know why they're fighting?" I bit the inside of my lip. I didn't even think like that. "Well, I mean, I think of Luke and Calum as my brothers." She nodded slowly. "Maybe they don't see it that way." I read the seriousness of her face and sigh. Fuck.
Adam walked past, telling Lily that he was about to leave. She nodded and looked towards me. "The bus doesn't leave til tomorrow right?" I shook my head yes, slightly confused on what this had to do with anything. "Maybe it's best that you don't, you know, go to the bus tonight. Give them a chance to cool off. Guy tend to work things out quickly." I contemplated it for a minute.
"I guess, but I don't have anywhere to g-," She held a hand up, cutting me off. "It's would be a pleasure for me to host you tonight." I fidgeted with my lip for a moment. I barely know her, but also, I need the boys to work this out. "But, I don't have clothes." She playfully rolled her eyes. "I think both of us know that isn't going to be an issue. Stop making excuses Ivy, it'll be fun." I nodded, "Yeah, you're right. Let's get this show on the road."
