AN: In this chapter PJ gets interrogated, Bomb gets a mug shot taken, and Gemma and Devin reflect on ranting. I'll be away for the next few weeks without WiFi so, this is a filler to hold you over.
PJ POV
PJ was led in handcuffs to a plain metal room with only a table, two chairs, and a mirror to keep him company. He sat down and shifted uncomfortably in the baggy jumpsuit he had been given to wear now that he was considered a criminal. It was soooooo obvious that is was meant for someone with muscle, a feature he didn't have. The arms and legs were long and hung off his limbs making him look small and scrawny.
We didn't even do anything! A voice in PJ's head screamed. They must have the wrong information, cause we never robbed anything! All night we were......oh crap! PJ mentally cursed whoever had attempted to rob the museum. The heroes couldn't tell their alibi cause it was worse then attempted robbery. All night they had been vandalizing a brick wall near the deserted part of Xandar.
12 hours ago (Outside Walsberry, Xandar)
PJ dropped the heavy duffel bag he had been carrying on the dirty ground with a panting groan. "Remind me why I had to carry the bag of 50 pound supplies instead of the guy that benches 150 everyday!" He complained as Devin walked past; hands free.
"Because I was in charge of helping an irksome raccoon because of her broken rocket jets." Devin hissed as Bomb sat down on a pile of bricks to fiddle with her boots. When she noticed two sets of eye glaring at her she looked up.
"What?" She asked. Then she grabbed a stick and started messing with the inner wiring of her boots.
"You'll probably break the circuitry doing that." Gemma noted as she started hooking up grappling hooks around their target; a brick wall.
Bomb rolled her eyes. "I think I can handle the wires and circuits. I did build this thing after all!" Bomb finished up with the stick and tossed it to the side. She shut her boots and stood up, the rockets activating and propelling her up into the air a little.
"You couldn't have done that earlier?" Devin and PJ both called with exasperation. Bomb just flashed her pointy teeth and started helping Gemma with the rigging for their vandalism act.
They did this often. Sneak out at 11 PM, vandalize something, and sneak back in at 1 AM. They never got caught, and in case they ever did they all had thought of at least 12 lies to get out of trouble. People underestimated them way too much!
"Enough daydreaming people!" Gemma snapped as she landed on the ground and reached for black spray paint. "Get to vandalizing!" PJ grabbed green spray paint and used the ropes to hold himself up near the middle of the wall.
Devin grabbed red and used the same method as PJ except closer to where Gemma was writing.
Bomb used her rocket boots to spray paint with orange on the top of the wall.
(What the wall looks like)
Finally they were done. In total it took two hours, excusing them from the attempted robbery. Of course PJ couldn't tell Novell that! Finally the door opened and an officer walked in with a name tag reading Officer Halska.
"Hello there PJ." She said coldly. "I'm here to get only the truth out of you." When he just stared at her she added, "And nothing but the truth." PJ tried to keep a straight face. He must have failed.
"Let me lay it to you straight kid." Officer Halska leaned forward, folding her hands across her arms. "All of us here at Nova Office don't believe you did it. But the evidence proves you did. So, unless you want to get in more trouble than your parents probably ever thought of getting into then I suggest you keep the sarcasem to a minimum and answer my questions. Okay?" PJ nodded.
"Good. Now, where were you and your friends between the hours of 11 PM and 1 AM?" PJ groaned. This was going to take awhile.
Bomb POV
Bomb stepped up to the large background of black and white stripes, her prison uniform hanging off of her petite build. They obviously didn't have a size for someone of 4 ft 8 in. A large black camera was put in her face, two uniformed guards behind it. When one went to get the traditional sign with her name on it to hold the other one snickered in her general direction.
"What's so funny?" She growled.
"I didn't expect the daughter of Rocket Raccoon to be so helpless and non-threatening." The guard laughed. Bomb growled a warning and tried to keep her claws under control as they threatened to come out.
"I'll politly warn you to keep those comments to yourself." She hissed through bared fangs. "If you don't I'll make sure you can't comment again!" Her fangs glistened and she smiled with pleasure as the guard stepped away from her.
The other guard came back. He saw his colleague staring at Bomb with a frightened expression. He laughed. "Don't worry buddy. That savage won't hurt you!"
Anger surged through Bomb. Savage? He just called me savage! Bomb didn't notice the camera go off until too late. She quick glanced at it as they took her away.
Her hair was poised up threateningly, her teeth were glistening, her claws were poking out with some blood pooling under her fingernails, her eyes were wide and filled with fury, and her fur as matted up. She really did look savage.
Devin POV
Devin was just sitting in his cell lightly banging his head against the wall. His outfit was probably the only one that fit out of all of them. He didn't even realize anyone else was in the room until a voice from the other cell shouted "Cut it out already!" Devin recognized the voice.
"Gemma?" He asked, peeking into the other cell. "How long have you been here?" He asked.
"Only about 10 minutes." Gemma answered. Devin could just make out her form in the shadows of her cell.
"I haven't been banging my head against the wall that long have I?"
"Yep."
"Wow."
An awkward pause followed.
"Sooo...." Devin tried to start up a conversation. Gemma stayed silent. "I said, soooooo!" Devin tried again. Still nothing. "What's wrong with you? Gemma, c'mon, your usually the most talkative person ever!" Gemma sighed.
"Fine. I'm concerned about PJ." When Devin didn't reply she snapped. "What? So now your giving me the silent treatment? Well I'm worried that my brother is going to spill the beans about our nightly escapades and then blame himself when we get caught. Remember when PJ accidently told your Dad that we were stealing food back in 4th grade? He was depressed the whole week because of that! Imagine what would happen if he spilled now! I'm worried he'd never recover!"
Devin waited for Gemma to catch her breath before speaking. "I think that PJ is perfectly capable of keeping a secret like this a secret." Gemma nodded. "Do you feel better having ranted like that?" She laughed and nodded again.
"Yes I actually do!"
"Well that makes one of us."
"Don't you want to rant about something?"
"Not at all."
"You sure?"
"Positive."
"Okay." Gemma rolled into her side. "I'm gonna catch some rest." Devin nodded and laid his head back agsi at the wall, tempted to go back to hitting it again. "Oh! And Devin?"
"Hmm?" He asked closing his eyes.
"One day you'll rant. I promise." Gemma said with finality. Devin chuckled. Then fell asleep.
