Devin POV

If Devin thought that having to wait in a waiting room while your best friend is being stitched up after someone beat him, then he obviously never foresaw waiting in a waiting room while the random villain kid that took three bullets meant for you is bleeding her guts out. That really took the cake there.

Comet had been wheeled in along with two other kids that had major injuries. One was a boy that Gemma had worked on a project with for Science last year, hit in the ribs twice close range. The other was a girl that Bomb had briefly been friends with when they were 10, hit in the back long range.

Comet had been shot close range three times in her stomach, collarbone, and top of her ribs. Him, Aster,Korey, and Bomb were okay. Universal had been grazed along her chin by a bullet that then hit Gemma in the shoulder. There had been four shooters, one was dead, one was on the run, and the other two were in custody.

Right now Devin and Aster were pacing around the waiting room with their arms folded behind their backs. Gemma was sitting in one of the three chairs her one arm in a sling from where she was shot. Universal sat next to her a bandage on her lower cheek from where she was grazed. Korey was at the vending machine in the corner. Bomb was sitting on the floor toying with her gun. Meteor was nowhere to be seen.

"I think they meant to shoot the villians." Bomb spoke without letting her eyes leave her gun which she flipped aimlessly around her hand, one finger resting steadily on the trigger.

"What makes you say that?" Korey called from where he was reaching his hand through the slot of the vending machine. When everyone turned to look at him he paused in his struggles to reach a bag of chips. "What?" He asked again before shifting around to get more of his arm into the machine.

Bomb rolled her eyes. "It's obvious. They shot at Comet multiple times, I shot a guy that was about to put a hole through Aster's head, and they even missed Universal and ended up shooting Gemma."

"Wait, the guy that was killed was shot long range by a handgun, did you-?" Gemma left the sentence hang in the air. Bomb shrugged off the question.

"Who cares what I did." She growled before starting to dismantle her gun.

"I think that maybe, and I know this sounds crazy, but just maybe they were shooting at you guys." Aster pointed at the heroes. "Ya know because Gemma was shot, Devin was in the same shooting range as Comet was, and the other two kids shot were old acquaintances of you guys."

"Can we just agree not to argue about this until after we know Comet isn't going to die?" Universal asked with exasperation. Gemma nodded in agreement.

Bomb dropped the dismantled gun at her feet then started putting it back together. "I still think they were shooting at you guys." She muttered.

"Oh no!" Aster held up his hands. "They were shooting at you heroes. After all, why would they possibly want to kill the kids of some of the worst villians ever that are now supposed to become good kids by going to this miraculous school." Bomb smiled as Aster froze. "How about we just not argue about this." He decided.

Bomb went back to her gun and Korey returned to the group, a victorious smirk on his face at having gotten a free snack. A long drawn out silence swallowed the group for at least 10 minutes before the sound of a nurse coming in startled them all from their thoughts.

"Miss Streak is doing fine." The nurse stated. "She lost a good amount of blood but overall no major arteries were damaged and thankfully her ribs didn't break." The nurse paused and Devin braced himself for the 'but' that was most likely coming.
