Love Potion? Check! 100% Fail Proof Plan? Um, Hold That Thought

"Aw shit!" Comet yelled. The timer on the wall was running low and the game was tied. If Aster's calculation was actually exact like he said, then the potion would kick in before Comet could get to Devin. The whole plan would backfire!

"This can't be happening." Universal gasped. Her eyes were glaring the clock down, willing it to slow so one of the teams could score a point. The clock did no such thing.

Comet noticed the breaker for the gym lights positioned along the wall. She quickly ducked and swerved through the bleachers, elbowing kids out of the way. She jumped off the stands and whipped out her electric sword. With a stab Comet turned off all the lights in the gym.

A few seconds of silence passed as everyone realised what had happened. Then frantic shouting took over the gym as students clamored to get down to the floor and out of the gym. Comet smiled, now to find Devin.

Then the shots rang out and everyone started screaming for a different reason.

(5 Hours Earlier)

Aster and Korey were already waiting outside of the girls room when they left. After asking where Meteor was the girls said that he wasn't feeling well. A few white lies between friends is always okay. Comet reminded herself as guilt started creeping up on her.

As they sat down for breakfast Universal set the two potions on the table and Aster shared his "ingenious" plan on how to use the potions on Bomb and Devin.

"So the potions take at least an hour and thirty minutes to take effect, right?" Aster asked. Comet nodded. "Okay, so Kor here will slip the strum into Devin's energy drink that he drinks before playing Orbball. Then after the game Comet will slip out of the crowd and go up to Devin and start talking to him. The potion will take effect and since Devin will be looking at Comet when that happens, Bam!" Aster smacked his hands together loudly. "Instant love!"

Universal and Comet nodded but Korey looked skeptical. "How will you give Bomb the potion? And why do I gave to put the serum in Devin's drink?" He asked.

"I heard that after a win the team has a victory a party to celebrate." Universal offered. "You could give the potion to Bomb then." Aster nodded, a smile on his face.

Korey laughed. "So I guess that means we absolutely have to win?" He guessed. Universal nodded and pointed at the two.

"You guys have one chance, we can't squander any time." Both boys saluted her. Comet kicked their shins under the table.

Breakfast finished up and everyone scattered for first period. The day seemed to fly by for the villians and soon school was over and Aster and Korey were heading to the gym. Comet glanced into their room to check on Meteor. He was asleep.

Comet and Universal found a spot at the top of the 20 row bleachers and prepared to watch.

Meanwhile, In The Lockeroom........

Devin was attaching the padding they were required to wear  when Aster approached and started talking to him. Devin instantly suspected something was up.

"So how's PJ doing?" Aster asked. "Heard what happened and wondered if you know who beat him up." Aster acted like he cared but Devin saw it clearly in Aster's eyes that he could care less about the turnout of this conversation. Yet, Devin oddly felt like talking to him.

"PJ's better, but he can't play in the game today." Devin glanced in the direction of Rand. "The others and I have our suspicions about what happened." Aster nodded like he got it, but you didn't have to be a psychic to know that he didn't care. The whistle sounded and all the guys got ready to make their big game entrance.

Comet and Universal slightly yelled and slightly covered their ears from the loud yelling of their classmates as the team flooded onto the court. Both girls were too far away to identify where Aster and Korey were, but that didn't matter. As long as the game went smoothly everything would be fine.

(An hour later)

Comet hit the floor quickly and charged up her sword. She saw Universal's gloves light up from in the stands. Frantic screams could be heard from everywhere. More shots were fired.

Comet ducked and weaved across the dark gum floor towards where the teams were running for cover. She refused to let this mission fail! She heard Universal firing rounds from her gloves, and agonizing screams as people fell in her wake.

Comet forgot to pay attention to where she was running and she hit into someone's back. Miracle of miracles it was Devin.

"Comet?" Devin asked. His night vision was good, just not as good as hers.

"Yeah it's me." Comet answered. "What's going on?" She asked. Before Devin could answer the presence of another person was noticed. Comet turned, sword raised when three shots rang out. Comet felt a burning sensation in her stomach and chest.

She felt lightheaded. She heard the sound of flesh meeting bone as someone, probably Devin, put a hole in the person who had shot. Why couldn't she move? Comet felt sick. She reached for her stomach, ribs, and chest to see what was bothering her. She felt liquid.

"Are you okay?" Was that Devin's voice? Comet couldn't tell. Lights came on in the gym. The brightness made Comet shield her eyes. As she brought her arm up a drop of red fell off her arm and hit her face. Comet looked down.

Her whole front was covered in bright red blood.

Someone screamed. Another someone called her name. A third someone grabbed her arm. All Comet did was collapse.
