When I opened my eyes, I knew in that moment that my life was the weirdest that any teenager should have. Nathan and Quinn were crowded over me with a orange-yellow light behind them. Then, I saw the rocks on the ceiling and I knew exactly where I was.
"YOU TOOK ME TO QUIVERER'S CAVE AGAIN?" I yelled, sitting up. I started to stand but they wouldn't let me.
"Zoe, it's the only safe place where you can stay for two days. Quinn was right to bring you here." Nathan said, sounding like Quinn made him recite it multiple times before waking me up.
"But aren't there other caves around here? Other places for me to hide? Why this cave?" I asked, slapping Nathan's hands away.
"Because there are no other places to hide, not good ones, anyway." Quinn said, crossing her arms.
I stood up suddenly, catching Nathan off guard so I didn't get pulled back down.
"I thought I could trust you again!" I yelled at Quinn.
"You can!" Quinn yelled back. "Why would you not trust me for helping you?"
"Because you brought me to the worst hiding place possible!" I screamed. Sure, the weapons and the metal tables had been removed from the cave, but it still was the worst place possible. It was completely empty except for the light in the corner of the ceiling of the cave.
"Quinn, weather you like it or not, you're staying here!" Nathan said.
"No, I'm not." I yelled. At that moment, I unfolded the temporary wings on my back and jumped into the air, but was suddenly pulled back down by something on my wrist. I fell on my back and folded back in the wings. With little pain, I shook off the impact of the fall and looked around my wrist.
I then finally realized that there was a cuff over my wrist, with a long chain connected to the wall. I looked up at Nathan and Quinn, who were standing side by side.
"REALLY?" I yelled.
"Zoe, we're sorry, but we can't let you go until the particles dissolve from your blood and I can take out the rest of the stuff." Quinn said.
"We'll bring you food and water, it's only for two days." Nathan added. "And you can have apples and other things that Quinn doesn't like that you do."
"This is cruel!" I shouted.
"Cruel is keeping you hostage for tests and to be killed. We're being fair but tough." Quinn said. "It's only for two days."
"It may be two days for you, but what do you think that I'll feel like?" I asked.
"Goodbye, Zoe!" Nathan called as he unfolded his wings and took Quinn's hand, who also took her wings out. They flew away, leaving me alone in the cave where I was half-killed.

Sitting in the cave alone was almost as bad as what Gideon was doing to Quinn and I. I had my knees scrunched up next to my body and I was holding them to my chest. My chin was sitting on top my knees, and I was rocking back and forth to create some movement for heat. The cave was freezing, and I was still wearing my t-shirt and my pants that Quinn had came here in, but both were so thin I could have strained water through them. The chain around my wrist was tight, almost to the point were it would pinch my skin, and it was cold. The metal met my skin with a freezing kiss of cold steel.
My body was shivering, but there was no wind. I was terrified. Everywhere I looked, I only saw what had happened here. The room was completely empty, but I could see metal tables and weapons everywhere. Nathan's dead body, Quinn and my tables side by side, knives and hand guns scattered around the cave. I breathed heavily with fear. I was horrified by what filter my eyes had displayed.
