It was dark. I didn't feel anything around me. I felt like I was surrounded by blackness. I tried to see around me, but it was completely blank. Where am I? I thought. I blinked and tried to see, but it was useless, it was like I was blind.
Suddenly, images crossed my eyes, then disappeared, too fast for me to see or understand.
What was that?
The images appeared again, but they were still to fast.
No. Stop. No more.
Blackness emerged around me, like a prison I couldn't breath in. Then, the images reappeared, though still fast, I could now see them, one by one.
A knife, covered in blood. Dark.
A tin container, with bullets, a pair of tweezers dropping more in it. Dark.
Stop.
I saw Quinn's face, her eyes closed. Blood trickled from her mouth, all the color drained from her face. The jewel on her head had dulled into a deep black, like a light that had been turned off, dead. Darkness.
I closed my eyes as hard as I could, but it was useless.
Another image appeared, shuttering like a bad TV screen. It was Nathan, with blood running down his shoulder. A gaping hole was left in his collar bone, inches away from his neck. His face was still colored, but fading fast. Eyes closed. Darkness.
Stop it.
The images didn't appear for a while, and I thought they were over. The only thing I heard was the sound of my breath, in and out, over and over again. It was heavy, and hard to breath, but no images came.
But then, through my closed eyes, a single image began to light in my eyes. At first, all I heard was screaming. Then, the image became brighter. I saw myself, on the floor, shaking. I was still in Quinn's clothing, but the jewel on my face was gone. Darkness.
--------------------
I woke up with a violent jolt, lying on a metal table. The second my eyes were open, I started to scream, shaking upon the table. I was surprised to find my ankles and wrists were ties to the table with a long strap over them to connect to the metal. Once particular strap wrapped itself over my rib cage. My body was now mine again, since I could move with such force.
I stopped screaming, but still breathed heavily, looking around the room I was in. It was lighted with an orange glow, the walls covered in stone, like I was in a cave. All around me were metal tables with tools and all sorts of weapons. I watched as my chest moved up and down quickly with my breathing as I gazed upon knives.
I heard footsteps coming close to me. I could feel my face turning white with fear. A figure appeared in the light. Tall, thin and wicked. The moment I saw his face, I exploded with anger.
"How dare you kidnap the Queen of Fluttershy?" I yelled, using words to not give away my real identity. From the words I had used, I really had become Quinn. They were sort of the same thing that she first said to me when we met.
"Oh, you and I both know that you're not Quinn, don't even think that I would be that stupid." Gideon said. I bared my sharp teeth together and hissed. "You don't scare me either."
"What do you want, Gideon?" I growled.
"To understand your kind, Zoe." He replied. "I've always wanted to know more about humans, but never had the chance until now."
"Like I'm going to let you touch me!" I screamed, flicking my fingers. A sudden shock sent my body to relax, and I couldn't feel my hands for a moment. I screamed as the shock boosted through my entire body, then shut down after I had relaxed.
"I made sure that I could." Gideon smiled. He reminded me sort of like Loki from Thor.
"I hate you."
"Thanks. I hate you too." He turned to one of the tables and grabbed something off of it. "Open wide, this won't hurt a bit." He turned back to me with a small pill in his hand. I clamped my mouth shut. "It's either this little pill, or the thing that's growing on your neck, which do you want?"
I looked down to see a black web on my shoulder, growing slowly outward.
"What will it do to me?" I asked.
"The web will shut down your healing and your immune systems, but this little pill will stop it. That way I can see how a human body reacts to different fairy procedures." Gideon explained. "Which will it be?"
"Neither. I won't let you do anything to me."
"Wrong answer!" He said. He opened my mouth with his hand and put the pill in it. I swallowed without realizing it, and he backed off.
"I swear if you do that again, I'll-"
"You'll what? Spell me?" Gideon laughed. "You're in no place to spell me more that I to you. Face it, your a human again, who happens to be immune to pretty much everything."
"Then that means that you're a human as well. Nathan told me everything about you. I know you're too weak to fight him when he comes."
"Nathan," Gideon started, pointing out that the web began to retract slowly, "Has that inside him now. He'll be weaker than a butterfly by the time he gets here. And besides, I have more power than him as we speak, because if I have you, I have Quinn as well."
"What are you saying?" I asked.
"Nathan was right, you know. If you die, Quinn dies. He was trying to tell you that." Gideon smiled at my uncomfortable-ness. "You see, if Quinn's DNA is in your body, you are half of what Quinn is. Plus, the power that runs through your veins is Quinn's. Fairies have more power than a human could withstand in a minute, though it's remarkable that you have stayed alive for two weeks now. So, if you die, Quinn dies. If Quinn dies, you die. It's as simple as that."
"You're lying."
"Why would I lie, when I want you and Quinn dead as much as ever? It's a waste of energy to lie to you. It's like talking to a dead man."
"Well, if I'm supposed to be dead right now, why haven't you killed me to save time?" I asked.
"Because I want to study why you haven't." Gideon replied. "Once that web retracts all the way, we'll start, so it'll give your enough time to collect your thoughts and strength, not like you have any."
"I'll take that as offensive."
"Good, it's what I was going for."
