Monday rolled in too quickly for Dan's liking. He was back wearing black skinny jeans, a grey hoodie, black converse and a black backpack. Dan was obsessed to black, you could say addicted too to be honest.
The silence was deafening as Dan entered the school's premises. Everyone looked at him with an edge of fear.
Dan rolled his eyes before saying in a snappy and angry tone, "Don't you have anything better to look at rather than me?" And walked towards his first class.
It was as if silence followed him. Everyone stared at him, even teachers. It made Dan feel uncomfortable as he walked. He knew he had been gone a long time but this was ridiculous.
His first class was History. And as usual, Dan was first so sat in his seat in the back corner of the classroom before going through Tumblr on his phone, something he hadn't been able to do in a while since they brutally ripped his phone away from him whilst he was in hospital.
"Hey Dan, how's your diet?"
Dan looked up to see Alfie Deyes leaning on Dan's desk with both hands in front of him with a grin plastered onto his face.
"It's none of your concern,," Dan spat with frustration. He had had a couple of meetings with Alfie Deye's mom and she had been annoying him. He didn't need her son to do the same. He wasn't a little kid, he didn't need Alfie to watch over him for his mom.
"Whatever," Alfie said with a eye roll before sitting on the row in front of him in between Marcus Butler and Oli White.
Fuck the populars, Dan thought.
There was the clatter of footsteps and looking up, in walked a group of mixed genders. There had to be at least 10 of them.
There were only two three-seater tables left in the classroom and then two two-spaced seats around the classroom. Sighing in defeat, Dan knew two of the guys from that group will HAVE to sit next to him.
Despite being away for five months, Dan knew there names off by heart. He watched Louise, Zoe and Tyler sitting on a three seater table in front of Joe, Caspar and Joey. Pj and Chris sat on a two seater in front of Alfie, Marcus and Oli which left Phil and Connor had no choice but to sit next to him.
Dan looked at their outfits. Phil was wearing black skinny jeans with a yellow t-shirt on with a pixel Charmander on. Connor had jeans on, a plaid shirt and surprisingly, brown shinny shoes.
Dan turned his attention to the front of the classroom where the teacher was beginning to talk about WW1 in a boring monotone voice. About half way through her speech, Dan felt his stomach churn. His nose twitched as a smell of blood filled his nostrils. This was the downside to being at school. Too many humans here with a body pumping blood around it.
Dan looked to his left to see that Connor was looking at him. Why was Connor looking at him?
"What?" Dan whispered harshly to Connor around Phil who sat between them who was still half concentrating on the screen as he doodled in his History book.
Connor slowly pointed to his left eye. Dan grabbed his phone and opened up the camera and was shocked as he saw his eye had changed. He felt anger. Why would his body do this right now of all the times?
But most of all... why wasn't Connor scared of it? If it was Phil who had noticed, he would have probably screamed and that would have caused a scene... so why was Connor so calm about it?
Dan looked at the clock. He had half an hour to keep his eye change secret from everyone in the classroom he was in. He couldn't do it... it would be too difficult.
