•CHAPTER FIFTY-TWO•

As soon as Phil entered the school with PJ next to him, he knew something was off. First of all, on the chalk board next to the cafeteria, the word 'pizza' had been written when everybody knew that Wednesday was curry day... not that that mattered to Phil in the slightest but it was still wrong. Second of all, Dan wasn't there.

It was unusual since Dan lived the closest to the school after Tyler who only lived a street or two away, so they were always the first people there. But where was he today? Phil and PJ were usually the people to arrive last along with Zoe and Joe since they had a longer walk compared to everybody else; and today PJ and Phil had beaten Zoe and Joe to it.

"PHIL!" Louise shot up from the table the second she saw Phil and ran over to him, not caring how people on other tables in the dining hall were starting at her. She had her arms wide open and happily, so Phil graciously accepted her hug, her warmest and sweet scent making him smile as the two cuddled.

Louise definitely gave some of the best hugs he had ever had.

After their hug ended, looking over her shoulder, Phil saw everybody else at their usual table smiling at him and standing up. He wandered over and one by one, hugged everyone as they told him how sorry they were for his loss and if he ever needed to talk, to call them.

But despite seeing everybody and hugging everybody, the one person he wanted to hug, despite seeing him last night, was Dan.

"Where's Dan?" PJ asked bluntly, looking around the table.

"That's what I was just saying," Tyler spoke after giving Phil a second hug for support as everyone sat back down, "Me and Dan have a competition on who gets to school first. Of course I am winning because I can usually see him walking past my house and I can usually overtake him but using the alleyway behind my house... but I didn't see him this morning and the fact that be still isn't here worries me."

"I'm sure he's fine guys," Caspar rolled his eyes as he ate the last part of his cereal bar, "You're just being overdramatic."

The door to the outside world from the dining hall opened to reveal Joe, Zoe and Dan all walking in together. To say that Phil was confused would be an understatement. Not only had Dan arrived late, but he was with the Sugg twins and wearing one of Joe's sweaters. He only knew this due to Joe's happy knack of wearing that same hoodie very often due to its comfort.

What the hell was it doing on Dan? His thoughts began to spray random thoughts at him, but Phil blocked them all out and focused on his main thought, there had to be some sort of logical explanation to it all.

"Looks like I won by a mile today Dan," Tyler confronts Dan as the three of them wander over to the table.

"Yeah... I guess you have," he replied with a nervous laugh as Zoe and Joe both instantly hug Phil, once again showing support to him over his loss and how sorry they were about it. But Phil wasn't concentrating on them.

What the hell was Joe's pretty much famous sweater doing on my boyfriends body?

Luckily for him, it wasn't just Phil who had spotted Dan's wardrobe choice; Chris also had, "I know this morning was meant to be all about us giving our support to Phil and all... but Dan? Why are you wearing Joe's sweater?"

Everybody looked at Dan and instantly he began to go red out of embarrassment. Joe however, he seemed very calm and confident about it all as he shrugged, "He's wearing it? Does that really matter to you?"
