School.

Dan hated the fact that last night had gone so quickly that school was like a sudden halt on the breaks which sent him flying through the windshield of the imaginary car back into reality.

The school building was still as gloomy as it was when Dan had left yesterday, not that Dan wasn't surprised. The only difference was now for some reason Dan felt a lot more confident in himself as he walked through the corridors to reach the hall.

Wether it was because Connor had scheduled yet another meeting that night to go over fighting techniques with Dan or it was because Dan was going to have the open opportunity to go talk to his raven haired crush... he didn't understand or know.

He just was excited for that day.

Finally reaching his destination of the hall, Dan immediately spotted his group sitting around there usual circle table with the laughs of belonging to his friends getting louder and louder the nearer Dan got to the table.

"Hey," Dan greets as he takes his usual seat in between Connor and Phil.

"Hello," Zoe is the first person go greet Dan before Phil and Connor then followed on with there hello's.

"So how come you had to leave yesterday?" Phil asked looking towards Dan with a raised eyebrow.

"Oh... err..." Dan searched through his head, trying to find a convincible and decent lie to tell Phil, "My brother got sick and mom wanted me back to help her out..."

Phil took the lie well as it appeared he had believed every word he had said. Last thing Dan wanted was Phil to know his secret. That could make the chances of Dan being able to be in some sort of relationship with Phil a lot closer to one which it currently was.

"Wait... you have a brother?" Caspar asks curiously. He seemed generally interested even though the information Dan was about to share with the entire group would be no use to anyone whatsoever in the near future.

"Well... yeah," Dan says. By the way the whole group was looking at him, they obviously wanted Dan to carry on, "His name is Adrian and he's 6 years old."

"Aww I wish I had a younger brother," Zoe commented, "Instead I'm stuck with a twin brother."

Joe gave her a glare before turning back to Dan, "Carry on."

"Well as I said Adrian is my 6 year old brother. He looks a lot like me... but had brown curly hair..."

"What like you did when you were six and blonde?" Phil questions, a mischievous grin on his face as he looked at Dan.

"I told you not to bring that up..." Dan mumbled to himself as people began to question Dan about it.

"You were blonde?"

"You actually have curly hair?"

"But your hair is straight?"

"I use straighteners everyday to cover up my hair," Dan shrugged. He coughed before continuing, "We live with my mum who is often out due to going on dates with her new boyfriend Richard. He's ok... I guess... I haven't made my mind up on him yet."

"Haven't you had 14 years to make your mind up on him?" Joey asked.

Dan shook his head, "No. He's not mine nor Adrian's real dad..."

"Where's you dad then?" Tyler asked, "Are your parents divorced?"

Doing his best, Dan tried to wipe the pooling tears away from his eyes, "I wish... I wish the reason I don't see my dad was because they had divorced. It's not though..."

Obviously seeing how Dan was reacting to what was being said, Dan felt an arm being wrapped around his shoulder. He had hoped it was Phil... and it was.

He took Dan out the dining hall and outside into the corridor which confused a few people within the group. Using this time away from the group, Dan used this time to wipe the excess tears away from his eyes and the ones rolling down his cheeks.

"You don't have to tell them anything Dan," Phil says looking at Dan directly in the eye, "This is your personal life. Don't fell pressured to tell them every detail."

"I'm not feeling pressured... I think I should tell them... incase it slips up," Dan tells Phil honestly.

"It took me a long time to open up about my mom's death. It's a nerve wracking moment... I'm not saying you shouldn't tell them, not at all... I just don't think you should tell them, you know, later."

Dan nodded as he agreed with Phil. He knew at some point he would tell everyone at some point on his personal life but right now... he probably wasn't ready.

"We had better go back into the room... before Tyler comes through expecting to see us making out with one another," Phil chuckles as he walks back into the room.

Dan tried his best to get that image of him and Phil kissing out of his head before following him out of the cramped corridor.

As they entered again, they saw Troye (one of the popular ones) talking to Connor. Upon his face, Connor had a bright smile on his face and was blushing as he looked up at Troye.

"See you later," Troye tells Connor before kissing him on the cheek before walking towards two people who Dan thought he recognised as Oli and Marcus, Connor's cheeks now physically glowing.

"Err... what exactly just happened?" Dan asked as he and Phil sat down and looked at Connor who was blushing and holding his cheek where Troye had just kissed him.

"Troye just asked Connor out and he said yes," Tyler said grumpily.

"Aw, congratulations Connor," Phil said to Connor.  Connor thanked Phil happily but Dan was more focused on Tyler's face. He had a frown on his face, his glasses were further down his nose than usual and he just had that depressed atmosphere almost coating him.

Something was wrong with Tyler, Dan just couldn't put his finger on it.
