"I know it's not much, but it's home."

Dan stared in amazement at Phil's house, which he stood in front of. It was painted in a clean white paint which was smooth and had fancy looking decorations making the house look presentable and aesthetically pleasing.

"It's amazing compared to what I'm use to..." Dan breathed as him and Phil made there way up the pebbled driveway to the wooden door which lead into the house.

Dan was lost for words when the beauty of the house reviled itself. Dan would never have put Phil in such a luxurious lifestyle. Everything had a place, it was perfectly organised and had a theme.

It made Dan jealous of what lifestyle he had at his cramped home compared to Phil.

"This is the living room," Phil flopped down on the sofa and sighed as Dan just awkwardly stood there, watching him.

"It's beautiful," Dan complimented as he tightened his grip on his bag as he continued to stand up. Looking at the freshness of everything around him, Dan felt dirty. As if if he were to sit on anything, it would stain it...

"You can sit down you know," Phil says looking towards Dan with a raised eye brow.

"It-it's fine... honestly..." Dan replied, avoiding eye contact with Phil.

"Seriously?-"

"I'm fine."

"Ok... wanna go up to my room to start the project?" Phil asked as he stood up again.

Dan nodded as he looked in his bag for the memory stick where he had put photos of him being a baby and clips of his blonde baby ages. That was what Dan was stuck doing as his mom was getting drunk as always and his brother was eating spaghetti hoops and smily potato chips as he watched even more Lazy Town.

"Sure," Dan agreed.

Compared to the rest of the houses fanciness, Phil's room was the only 'ordinary' room in the building. It had a double bed in the middle with a blue and green checked duvet and pillow on it as well as having a TV on a table with many games stacked next to there designated consoles which ranged from PS4, to WiiU.

Phil was a definite gamer.

He had an expensive looking HP desktop computer on his desk and a Macbook on bedside table which he picked up and sat on the end of his bed with.

Dan passed Phil the memory stick he was clutching before carrying on to snoop around the bedroom. He had a lava lamp on his window sill along with a stack of 3DS games to the side, showing off how much more Phil had.

Seriously, how was this kid getting so much stuff?

"So you're a gamer I guess then?" Dan asks rather stupidly as he picked up the first game off the pile on his windowsill, Mario Kart 7.

Dan heard Phil laughing, "I guess that's one way of putting it. But yeah, I am."

Ontop of his wardrobe, Dan saw a what looked like a battered brown box which interested Dan. It had been tried to be covered by a lot of stuffed toys like an emoji pillow, Totoro, lion and Pikachu, but Dan saw it never the less with what he thought was his super cool ghoul vision.

Not wanting to bring it up now, Dan decided to ask him later, when they knew each other better.

Dan heard cute chuckles behind him and he turned around to see Phil giggling at something on his laptop screen. He sounded adorable to Dan, so he walked over and looked over his shoulder.

It was a picture of Dan which he had been hesitant about for the sole reason that it was extremely embarrassing. It was him sitting on a beach in an extremely ugly hat to protect his head of blonde hair (yes he was a blonde until he turned to brunette) from the sun as he ate an ice-cream messily with the ice cream around his mouth, on his nose and all over his hands.

Thinking back now, Dan wondered why he had even included it.

"Aww, Daniel use to have blonde hair!" Phil teases as he moved onto the next thing on the memory stick which happened to be a clip of Dan on the same beach as the last photo, but in this clip, he was screaming like a girl and running away from a seagull which was attacking him viciously.

This was the clip that sent Phil into uncontrollable laughter. He fell back on his bed as he carried on laughing, using his hand to try to cover his mouth as his tongue poked out. But Dan saw it, like how he saw the box, and he instantly found it adorable.

There was a sudden crunch of pebbles coming from outside, like a car pulling up in the driveway. Dan looked towards Phil and he smiled, "That'll be my dad coming home. He's a agent."

"Oh..."

Phil's dad being an agent meant he was also a detective which also meant he was one of those people who searched for ghouls and killed them.

That just made everything more complicated.

No wonder Phil lived in such an expensive house with so many expensive items - agents are always earning loads and loads of money.

"My dad said he wanted to meet you, after I told him about you."

"Oh..."

"Is that all you ever say? Oh?" Phil questions with a laugh as he closes his laptop and stands up to join Dan in looking out of the window and watching his dad climb out of his very expensive looking car.

Dan followed Phil as he jumped down the stairs to meet his dad at the front door. They hugged and just looking at there relationship bond they shared made Dan realise how much he missed his dads warm hugs.

"And you must be Dan," the sound of another male voice rang out and Dan looked towards the male that stood in front of him.

"Y-yes..." Dan stuttered. Why was he so afraid? The secret of him being a ghoul wasn't standing out. He didn't have a massive sign on his chest that told people hey I'm a ghoul come kill me before I kill you!

No. He was perfectly fine. Perfectly safe. He was just scared like the little wimp he was.

A chuckle left Phil's dads mouth, "There's no need to be afraid of me, Dan."

Dan laughed back, "Sorry... Mr Lester."

Mr Lester smiled before turning and walking towards the kitchen. Phil looks at Dan, "He won't hurt you, you know. Arrest you, maybe. But never hurt."

Nodding slowly, Dan then received a text.

Tonight. 8pm. Bandstand again. Important.

Dan studied the message he had received off Connor before sighing, "Listen... Phil... I have to go."

"Oh..."

"Is that all you ever say? Oh?" Dan mimics back towards Phil as he moves back towards the front door and opening it.

Phil giggled and looked up at Dan, his eyes sparkling, "Thanks Dan."

"What for?"

"Spending time with me. You're a great friend you know."

Dan smiled at his friend one last time before picking up his bag and exiting the house, walking down the dimly lit, cold and windy road to get back to his home which he now felt had so little less value compared to Phil's.
