"Tom? Are you alright? Are you hurt?"

"Answer me, Hey" Carlton murmured the words as Tom's body came into shock. His feet were loosely firm across the ground and his knees weakened. Carl was holding his face with his palms as he looked at him straight in the eye, but he was left emotionless. An empty vessel.

His face was splattered with blood, along with his clothes as he began to smell the iron-rusty scent of the red liquid. Tom felt Carlton carried him in his arms as he led him towards his car. And at that moment, he saw the man who chased him down on the street, face-planted and unmoving against the harsh rain. Even his gun laid useless beside him.

Once Carlton sat Tom at the back, he started the engine and drove off towards his apartment, thinking they were safer as far away from there as possible.

"I'm taking you to my place" He said nervously, seeing Tom on the rear-view mirrors with his head next to the window. Carlton, felt his fingers twitched to the thought that if he was to late...He did'nt't even want to think about that. Instead, Carl took out his phone and dialed Tanya's number as she answered it quickly.

What do you want from me?! Tell me! His mind came drifting off. He was so close, the proximity he had with this man was unimaginable.

Who was that man, What did he want from me and Why did he want me dead

"-I don't know, Tanya. He's in shock and I'm taking him to my place, just cover for me" Carl said as he threw his phone to the seat next to him, his hold tightening it's hold against the steering wheel as he drove through the hazy road.

"Where are you taking me?" Tom breathed, finally realizing the place he was in. Carlton, who looked surprised composed his self and smiled thinly. "Don't worry, I'll take care of you" He said as he gave Tom a reassuring look.

"T-The man, W-What happened to him" His voice broke as he began to play the scene over again. It was unlike he had ever faced before, to be so close death and to witness it. He couldn't't pull through with this as he felt himself hyperventilating at the thought of it.

Instantly, his hands trembled uncontrollably and his vision became hazy. Suddenly, he had no sense of anything else at the moment. Anything was but a desperate world of illusion.

Tom? What's happening?

Answer me, Goddammit!

Tom, please. Answer me, please

And for one second, Tom had a moment of tranquility. A sudden shook of light that went through a needle hole in a lightless cave. He knew what he had to do. Tom looked at Carlton and spoke. "Turn right from that street, now"

-

They stopped in front of the place Tom wanted to be. His parents house. He opened the car door and jogged quickly to the doorstep, smacking the door with much force that it was heard from a good few meters. At last, The light turned on and the door opened, It revealing a recently awakened Barry.

"Tom? What's wrong?" He said groggily, blinking his eyes quickly before he noticed the specks of blood on his face. His eyes widened as he opened the door for him, but stopped when he saw Carlton walk up the steps beside him.

"Who's he?" He said defensively, blocking the door away from him. Tom stopped and looked at him in the eye, they looked at each other for a second before Tom nodded in his direction and went outside, holding Carlton beside him.

"What's wrong? Why won't he let me in?" He asked, seeing Barry's disgusted look on him. "Who is he?"

"He's my father" He spoke. "But that's not the point, you have to leave. Be as far away from me as possible because right now, I am a liability to you" He said in one breath while he tapped his feet on the pavement and waited for him to comply.
