Tom always had quite the reputation back in boarding school, He was not popular but everybody knew him. He was never a bully but everybody respected him, which was odd because he was surrounded by students who were the children of Kings and Queens, Politicians and World Leaders. He was smart, that was the only thing he was.

Smart, Clever, Quick to name a few.

His mother would always say that It was because there family is very well known, made accomplishment that were deemed impossible, made decisions that changed history. They truly made there mark on the world without people ever knowing before it was to late.

They were powerful and that's all that matters, according to his Mother.

But now, he ran away from home, made a living of his uniquely impressive cooking and a few sidelines on the way. And now, Tom Garret was born away from the life he called home.

It wasn't easy, he paid a fortune on forging his credentials, birth certificate, etc. Maybe even having to ask a few favors from some of his family he trusted. When It was over, he did the necessary pre-caution to stage his death.

This is what the truth feels like Tom muttered dryly as he laid his bags on the unimpressive bed beside the unimpressive side table. The hotel room was not as impressive as the brochure said.

“This is will have to do” He said to himself, sitting down on the bed as looked around his surroundings.

What am I going to do now? Disappear again? With what money, It would require more than my average pay Even though it was the best thing to do, He didn't want to do it. He fell in love with the city and how it makes it seem that everything is possible. And Kate.

He could never leave Kate, he could endure loosing everything else except her. She was to valuable, too pure to lose.

Maybe theres another way out of this, there has to be He thought to himself as he racked up his brain at every single possibility to escape this mess he got himself into.

It was nine-thirty when Kate heard car tires kissing and screeching against the asphalt, she quickly laid down the book she was studying as she made her way towards the door when suddenly, a harsh knock came.

Kate opened the door and saw a distraught looking Robert, his hair was in a disheveled mess and his eyes were fixated towards her apartment without even acknowledging her.

Robert rushed beside her, knocking Kate by the door way as he searched the living room. He was just about to run upstairs when Kate spoke, stopping him in his tracks.

“He's gone, Rob. He's gone” she breathed, looking at him worriedly. Her heart skipped a beat when Robert sat by the stairs, as if he was pondering something really deep.

“I don't where he went or where he is. I just came home one night and his clothes were gone, I don't know where he is”

To make matters worse, Robert felt a mixture of anger and sadness in the moment. His blood boiled by the thought of him abandoning him just like that but also, he longed for Tom to be cradled in his arms.

He's not gone, No. He's out there somewhere, I know Tom, he wouldn't leave me, He wouldn't

As hopeless he may be, Robert still held on to the feeling that he would return. Maybe not today, but he would return. And he wasn't giving up just yet. Even having to resort to the alternatives.

Illegal alternatives

As Kate noticed his friend lost in thought, she decided to abandon her study session. Instead, she thought a conversation with her friend sounded more reasonable. She already loss one friend, she couldn't lose another.
