The crowd surged forward as the fireworks display began. They "ooh-ed" and "aww-ed" at the explosions of light high above the ground. While they stared at the bright colors you sat alone in a vacant area separated from all the others. Another holiday passing through and another day spent alone. Your friends had ditched you again but all you wanted was for someone to share the holiday with.

"Hey," said a voice from beside you.

You jumped and looked at the stranger.

He had curly brown hair that stuck out everywhere and brown eyes that shown with either pure genius or pure insanity. His skin was a little darker and he was wearing a mechanic's outfit complete with the ragged clothing and tool-belt. To sum up his appearance, you'd say he looked like an overgrown Latino Santa's elf of steroids. You found him quite attractive.

You gulped. "Um, hi?"

He smiled and held out a rugged hand. "I'm Leo, but you can call me Leo McShizzle Badboy Supreme Valdez," he said with a small smirk.

You laughed. "And I'm (y/n) (l/n)."

He looked at you with those big brown eyes. "Why are you alone?"

You shrugged. "No particular reason, just that I don't have anyone to spend the holiday with."

"Hey! Me neither!"

You laughed. "We can be alone together!"

He smiled and looked up at the fireworks. "They aren't that bad this year, but at this summer camp I go to, they have the most amazing fireworks ever."

You smirk. "What makes them so amazing?"

"Well, for one, my siblings and I build them."

"Really?" You asked in disbelief. What kind of summer camp lets teenagers create functioning fireworks?

He nodded. "And they're like fifty times as cool."

You grinned. "Sign me up then. I want to see these."

His yes widened and he shook his head furiously. "No no no. This is a special camp for certain people."

You frowned. "Oh, so it's like those camps where you have to be rich enough to get in?"

"Not really. It just depends on who your parents, or rather parent, is."

"Well that sucks. I wanted to see these famous fireworks."

His eyes lit up. "Hey, maybe you still can. It's recommended that we don't leave camp, but it gets over in the fall. Maybe I can come and make some for you."

You smiled. "I'd like that actually."

"It's a date then."

You blushed and looked down in embarrassment. This boy, who you had just met but had undoubtedly stolen your heart just asked you out on a date. Butterflies erupted in your stomach as you two watched the fireworks in silence. When the show had ended you turned to ask Leo what he thought of the show but he was no where to be seen.

It would be a year before you saw him again.

In that time you had been attacked by a monster, taken to Camp Half-Blood, found out you were a demigod, and claimed by (g/p). While you had a hard time concentrating on certain things, one thing always stayed in your mind: Leo Valdez. Ever since that one Fouth of July you had been curious about him and wanted to know more.

Now, you sat on the beaches at Camp Half-Blood for your first Fourth of July as a known demigod.

Chiron trotted to the front and cleared his throat. "Welcome campers to our annual fireworks show hosted by the Hephestus cabin. Will our great builders please stand?"

Several burly looking kids stood up to receive the praise for their hard work but you were only staring at one. Leo Valdez.

After the show had started your mind was reeling. Leo was here? Well that made a lot of sense.

"Hey."

You jumped at the sudden noise and turned to look at who had spoken. Speak of the devil...

"Leo," you said accusingly.

He grinned. "The one and only."

You punched his arm.

"Ow! What was that for?"

"For not telling me you were a demigod."

"Well in my defense I thought you were a mortal that would have put me in a straitjacket if I told you the truth."

"You're probably right."

The two of you laughed as Leo looked up. "Ooh! My special one is about to go off!"

You looked up to see fire works explains in the shapes a pulsing heart with little mini hearts surrounding it. You laughed. "Looks a little cheesey. Who did you make it for?"

He shrugged. "Actually, I was thinking of you when I made them."

You blushed and looked down. "Really?"

"Yes." And smiling he gave you a light and sweet kiss.

Happy Fourth of July everyone! How were your fire works?

Unfortunately I wasn't able to spend the holidays at home and instead we went to my cousins out of state. They live on a lake and we got to watch the fireworks over the water. I love as scared there for a second that a small forest fire was going to start but thankfully nothing happened.

Man, I was supposed to be born today. That didn't work out. XD I was a late child.

Did you all enjoy the holidays? Hope you did. And for those of you that don't live in the United States, happy random day in July. Needless to say I hope you all had a good day.

Mr. Avocado 🐙: Stay safe with your fireworks!

Just like Mr. Avocado said, I hope you all are being safe and having fun.

I hope you enjoyed Fourth of July and if you did please vote and comment and I'll see you in the next part!

*bye*
