I turned toward the group. They had Chlorice untied, but Indie was falling to the ground, holding her chest, right below the right shoulder. I ran over to her, hearing alarms going off. Indie kept screaming. Sky picked her up and cradled her in her arms as she began running toward the exit. Men and women ran into the room, holding up guns, but we made it into another hallway. Amber had her GPS with her and ran straight at a wall.
"There's a secret room through here." She said, pressing the wall, and it opened. We ran in there, and sat down. "They won't know we're in here." Sky set Indie down, who was sobbing at the pain. I saw tears running down her cheeks, as she held her chest, which was soaked with blood.
"Indie," I said. "It's going to be okay."
"No...Just leave me....Here." She said between sobs. I looked at Sky, wide eyed shaking her head. Amber herself started crying.
"Indie, no." I said. "We can't just leave you here, we won't let you die."
Indie shook her head and closed her eyes.
"No!" Sky said, now with tears streaking her face.
"Guys, just let me be. Leave me here...to die." Indie said, she seemed out of breath.
"Indie, shut up!" I heard myself yell.
"I don't want to die either," Indie said, crying hard. "But at least I'll know I died surrounded by the people I love."
I felt myself crying too.
"Indie, no, no, no!" Amber said, holding her head. "Please."
Indie was looking at us, gritting her teeth, and closing her eyes. "I don't want to die!"
I crawled over to her shoulder and grabbed her arms and started to move them to look at the hole.
"No!" Indie screeched. "Don't look!"
"I need to see how bad it is," I said. "It'll be okay." Sky held Indie down as I checked the bullet hole. It was deep, and bloody. It didn't look like it hit anything vital, but Indie was in severe pain. I closed my eyes.
Help.
Help!
Somebody, help us!
I felt Indie trembling as she stared up at the ceiling.
Suddenly, I heard the secret door open. A woman stepped in and held up a gun. I gasped.
She walked over to us and knelt down.
"I'm here to help," she told us. Apparently my prayers were answered. "I heard a gunshot and a scream, and saw you guys running over here." She started taking out a wrap, and put a giant bandaid on the wound, then wrapped it around it. "There's only one thing I need in return," She continued, "I need to take one member of your group." She pointed at Chlorice.
"Okay," Amber said. Sky elbowed her. That's when Chlorice went berserk.
"What?" She screamed. "Are you kidding me?" I told her to quiet down a bit, and she started taking big breaths.
"No, no. It'll be fine. We just need to take her and put her somewhere, when you find her, the place'll be guarded with people," She finished the wrapping and stood up. "Be careful."
The girl dropped something as she ran out of the room. It was her ID.
