Chapter 2:
Monday
"CORAL, GET UP YOU'RE GOING TO GET US BOTH LATE FOR SCHOOL"
I heard someone, who I supposed would be Cory, yell. I grabbed the nearest thing, which happened to be a pillow, one from many that were scattered around my bed, and groggily hit him with it. But to my surprise, he wasn't next to the bed, he was standing in the door frame.
"Cory! I want to sleep, let me sleep."
"MOM SHES NOT GETTING UP", he proceeded to scream.
I let go of the pillow that I was holding in my hand, hanging off the edge, it dropped to the ground and seconds later Cory hit me in the face with it.
I instantly sat up. Blew a strand of hair away from my face. Grabbed a pillow and hit him back.
Now mom was in the room trying to stop our little pillow fight and trying to get me out of bed.
I hate mornings.
"Coral you have ten minutes to get ready, five if you want breakfast. I'm dropping BOTH of you to school. She stated before leaving the room, dragging Cory with her.
I finally got out of bed and went to the bathroom.
Brushing my teeth and looking in the mirror for the umpteenth time, not wanting to deal with my curly black mane.
It was Monday and I wasn't ready to go back to school just yet. Deciding on this, I just put on a navy blue hoodie and black sweatpants, and of course, did the only thing I could do with my hair, put it into a bun.
Mom and Cory were already waiting in the car by the time I got downstairs, so I grabbed a granola bar on the way to the door.
It was March, you'd think it would be a bit warmer out, but it still felt like December.
I sat in the backseat, half awake, half asleep while Cory talked to mom while she drove, about some English assignment he had.
When we finally arrived, mom dropped us mid-block, leaving us walking half a block to school in the cold climate. As soon as we were on premise, Cory scurried off to join his friends before class started and I decided to quickly grab my English textbook from my locker since my first class was on the other side of the school, from the entrance I was currently standing at.
My locker was in the busiest hallway of the school, so a lot of people were in groups and couples making out against the lockers. And Me?
Well I didn't belong to a group. I didn't have any close friends either. Maybe like two at most. Which were Delilah and Maria, who went to a different school. I had known Delilah since freshmen year, and Maria was a childhood friend. I barely got to talk to her, maybe once a month, but no matter what happened, we were still close friends. I could not meet her for months, but when we did get together, It was like nothing had changed. And I didn't have classes with Delilah which sucked but it was okay. And then there were people that I knew from my classes, which I considered acquaintances since they were only school based friends.
Depressing, I know.
I didn't like people, they gave me anxiety.
The locker next to mine reeked of weed. Yes weed. You'd think being juniors, they would know to not keep weed in their lockers. Weren't they scared to get caught?
Two people were responsible for this, and I know one of them had gotten caught once.
After quickly getting my textbook I walked to the other side of school, trying to avoid hallway commotion, Don't get me wrong, high school Is definitely a hype, but I wasn't in the mood for this. I actually couldn't wait to graduate. 451 more days to go. I felt incredibly sorry for Cory, he was only a freshmen and he had so much more to go through.
