"I'm only honest when it rains,
An open book with a torn out page,
And my ink's run out.
I want to love you but I don't know how." - Sleeping At Last

Chapter 14:

I looked around but I couldn't tell where we could possibly be going. It looked like any other street, a bunch of two-story homes lined up.

I didn't realize we were going to one of the houses until he slowed down nearing the last one on the block.

26981, the street number read. I didn't recognize it. The street coming up to the house was almost all packed with cars. Jaiden parked his behind one of them, earning us a little bit of a walk.

"So, are we going to your house?" I asked.

"No, a friend of mine is having a party. Logan, I think you know him. You guys go to the same school." He answered and it hit me like a pile of boulders. It's a small world, I thought. I stared at the dashboard not quite believing what he had just told me.

He motioned for me to get out the car and I did. "Jaiden, I don't think I can go. I know Logan but I don't think he would want me at his party." I tried to justify.

"Don't worry about it. You're with me. Come on." He slipped his hand in mine and we walked to the house.

The door was unlocked. He held it open for me and I hesitated before going inside.

I don't think I need to describe the scene. It was a typical high school party, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. He slipped his hand in mine again and we slowly made our way through the crowded mess. He gave a nod to people I didn't recognize. That's funny, I've been in school with these people for the last three years and I had no clue who they were, whereas Jaiden was new to town and he knew most of them.

We got to a door and he held it open for me again. Our hands didn't part when we stood side by side and Logan came towards us.

Jaiden and Logan did some sort of handshake, and then Logan turned towards me. But instead of making some sort of mean comment which I expected him too, all he did was sneer.

"Haun." He acknowledged with a nod and walked away. Interesting.

"Do you want something to drink?" Jaiden asked. I knew well enough to not want anything to drink. It never went well, I knew from my share of teen novels and high school movies.

"No I'm good, thanks." I gave him a small smile.

"Okay, I'm going to get myself something. Be back in a second." He said and walked to what I assume would be the kitchen.

I watched him and when my attention shifted back to the current room, I noticed Ashlee and Lexie approaching me.

"You came!" Lexie Beamed.

"Yeah.." I trailed off not really sure of what to say.

"Who is that? You turned down Isaac to come with.." Ashlee said. It took me a second to figure out she was asking about Jaiden.

Lexie added before I could reply, "I don't know if you see it, but Isaac kinda likes you."

"No he doesn't." I denied her assumption. "And that was Jaiden, he's just a friend. I decided to come last minute and he was coming soo" I tried to explain.
