"Something is happening. I sense a change in the wind...a mutual understanding of each other. I haven't felt this way in forever." - Perfect Chemistry, Simone Elkeles
Chapter 17:
Coral
I stared at him in disbelief. I was shocked to say the least. His closeness left me in a frenzy and I can't imagine what tasting those lips would actually be like. Kissing Kris, it seems so unrealistic. Did I dream all that just happened?
His expression portrayed guilt and confusion. He probably regretted all of this, bringing me to his house.
But I wasn't the one moving in so quickly. Throughout our little moment, I'd seen him from a completely new perspective. I mean, there was something really different about him, the way he looked at me, it wasn't with the irritation he usually plastered. It was a strange gaze, and to be honest, it didn't leave me feeling the best. It left me queazy and confused.
He pursed his lips and looked at the door, the knocking continued and he quickly walked to open it.
The sudden knocking had brought me out of my trance, our trance. Wait no, not our, me and Kris'. It startled me, and I was still dazed as my pulse normalized.
Kris whipped the door open to reveal Jaiden. Right. He said something to Kris and Kris pointed at me.
Jaiden's eyes lingered on me with a serious expression before he broke into a soft smile. His eyes shifted down my frame, probably thinking about why I was in Kris' clothes.
I felt the need to explain which I realized was a bad idea a second later. "I spilled something on my clothes." I'm an idiot. I didn't want Jaiden to assume things.
There was an unsettling silence as I mentally slapped myself for saying that.
Jaiden clapped his hands and asked, "Are you ready to go?"
It took me a few seconds to catch on. "Yeah."
Kris stood next to the door casually, his face clothed with no emotion.
I quickly grabbed my phone and we started walking down to Jaiden's car. I looked back, expecting the house door to be shut, but Kris was still standing there, watching us leave.
We locked eyes and I stared at him until I had to turn to walk down the side walk. I felt bad for leaving like that when I know I shouldn't. Kris didn't like me.
We got into his car, "Do you wanna stop at home and change or something?" He asked and turned off of Kris' block.
"Oh, I'm locked out." I answered. "But I can stop at Delilah's and change, borrow her clothes I guess."
He nodded and drove me to hers, which didn't take very long.
"I'm going to park around the corner." He said as I left the car.
I quickly walked up to the door and knocked urgently. It was about four now and I was desperately hoping Delilah was home. I didn't feel too good walking around in Kris' clothes.
I heard a few noises before she whipped open the door.
"Coral! I didn't know you were coming." She grinned.
"Yeah, kind of unexpected. I have have to be fast though, I need to borrow your clothes." I said.
She waited for me to continue, "It's a long story, which I will tell you about later, but Jaiden's waiting for me, so I have to change and go. Please." I explained.
