Ringleader's P.O.V.

Today was just like any other day. I wake up late to my oldest sister ripping off my cozy blanket telling me to hurry up and get ready. Once again threatening to not drop me off if I take too long. I groggily sit up and get changed.

I put on some black shorts since it's hot as hell here in Manteca. I also put on a black sleeveless shirt with a bunch of emojis on it. Once my socks are tugged onto my feet I slip on my black shoes that has neon laces. Not too long ago the student body convinces the head honcho to allow colored laces. I tie up my hair into its usual style, a simple ponytail. After a trip to the bathroom I grab my binder and backpack. Before I head out my room I make sure to have my machete in there. Hey you never know nowadays! No one has caught me yet so what's the big deal! I also grab my pocket knife and shove it into my shorts. I don't know, today feels a little off for some reason...

My sister was waiting downstairs at the kitchen table, playing her favorite piano app on her phone. I must admit the songs on Deemo are really good. Once she finished the song she puts her phone away and out the front door we go. While sitting and waiting in the car to arrive at prison, I put on my dog tag necklace that also has the key to my house.

The trip to my school was quick since we managed to beat the train. We always end up early when my sister drops me off. I get out of the car and walk over to the gate to wait for someone to open it. As I lean against the chain link fence I didn't notice one of my friends standing next to her boyfriend. She walks up to me with a smile. "Sup Gabberdink!" She sweetly speaks. I look up and smile back. "Hey Bobo!" We talk about random stuff until Tina the yard supervisor comes and unlocks the gate. We head in and wait at our usual spot outside of our first period class. We continue to talk until another one of our friend pops up. It was Emma. She walks up to us looking really tired. "Hey Emma, are you okay?" Bobo asks. "Yeah, I was just up late doing our math homework then my alarm didn't go off this morning." She continued to complain about her younger siblings as I zone out.

I look up at the sky and notice something odd. It looked a little yellow. A helicopter flies by, a little too close for comfort. Emma looks up as well. "That's the fifth one I saw today." She blurts out. "Hold on the fifth?" Bobo exclaims. "Yeah, have any idea as to why they are here?" Emma asks. "Not a clue." I reply. Now that she mentions it, today does seem a bit odd. I mean when I walked out the front door it smelled pretty terrible. Almost like, no stop it that's completely insane! Anyways, our History and Language Arts teacher opened the door for us. We scurried in and grabbed our breakfast. We sat at our desks and continued to chat about things we did over the weekend. However, I couldn't concentrate on the conversation. Too many thoughts were swirling around my head.

First and Second period went by like usual except we watched a movie in P.E. instead of going outside for some weird reason. I didn't complain though. Another weird thing happened at break. We were all ushered into our third period class for break instead of sitting in the court. How odd. The teachers didn't say anything and just acted like nothing wrong was happening. I didn't work on me. I saw right through them. Our first period teacher stuttered a little, he never does that. Our second period teacher was oddly silent, he's usually very talkative. Our third period teacher was shaking, she is clumsy but not shaky. Something strange was going on and I was going to get to the bottom of it. The window's drapes were pulled shut so I went to check that out first.

When I neared the window I thought I heard a low growl. My hand stopped from reaching towards the drapes when the noise entered my ears. I shiver ran up my spine as I swallowed the lump in my throat and continued to reach for the drapes. "What are you doing!" Emma practically screamed in my ear. I yelped and jumped back. She laughed at my reaction. "So,what are you doing?" She asked again. I put a finger to my lip and motioned her to the window. I think she got the message when her face went serious as she crept up to the window. Bobo was watching us from her desk. Curiosity took the better of her as she made her way over to us. The math teacher was distracted by an argument with one of her students about the homework. I curled my hands onto the drapes and lightly tugged as to not make a noise and peeked outside. A gasp escaped my lips as I quickly shoved the drapes back. Emma and Bobo looked at me questioningly as I covered my mouth, frantically shaking my head while sinking to my knees. Bobo looked at me with worry written all over her face. She kneeled down next to me and rubbed my shoulder comfortingly as Emma went to try her luck with the window. She too gasped and did the same action of closing the drapes. She quietly snuck to the door and locked it. Bobo being confused decided she wanted to look out the window as well. Emma's eyes widened when she saw Bobo reach for the drapes. She tried to stop her but was too late. She saw the scene outside. I saw it in Bobo's eyes before she did it. I covered her mouth to muffle her scream. The drapes were shut but the attention of the class was already caught. Emma put a finger to her lip to everyone as she turned off the lights in the class. I was now the one comforting Bobo as silent tears began to free fall down her face. Larry, another friend of ours, went to comfort Bobo as well. I got up and grabbed the nearest desk and propped it up against the door. I grabbed another one and stacked it on top of the other desk. I continued to pile a bunch of desks against the door with the help of Emma and a few other students who just went along with it. Our math teacher was at her desk with a guilty expression plastered on her face. Emma slightly infuriated at the lack of details stormed up to the teacher and whisper yelled at her. "What the hell is going on?!" The teacher was about to speak when the scream of a student ripped through the air from outside the class. Kids rushed to the window like a bunch of hungry animals. The drapes were pulled open, not fully but enough for everyone to see.

A girl was running through the court trying to reach the fence. She was being chased by Seng, our janitor, but something was wrong. His clothes were dirty and ripped, his skin was really pale, he was limping pretty badly, and he was missing an arm. A low growl emitted from the pit of his stomach as he limped after Daniela Cruz. She tripped and fell right before she could touch the fence and Seng was right behind her. He leaned down and began to tear open her abdominal region. Daniela let out a blood curdling scream as he ripped out her intestines. Poor Cruz, she was always so sweet and shy. Her screams were dying down as she choked on her own blood. Seng was eating away at her large intestine at the moment and would soon continue onto her small intestine, then her stomach, then liver, and so on. Cathy quickly yanked the drapes shut for everyone who wanted to but were too shocked to even move. Cathy is another member of our gang like squad. She's the innocent one. Our teacher kept her head down and softly spoke. "That is what's going on. We were told to keep everyone inside until further notice." Unbelievable. Those pieces of crap in the office thought it was a good idea to lock us into a corner and wait for those things to come tear us apart with no clue whatsoever as to what the hell is going on. No. I'm not going out without a fight. What's just happened is only the beginning and there's no way to avoid it, so might as well deal with it.
