Ringleader's P.O.V.

I awoke with a start from the noise of whispering. As to not draw attention I opened my eyes slightly. It was dark out already and it looks like Jorge was on watch. He wasn't alone. All I could see was a large person wearing a pitch black robe was speaking to him. Jorge would occasionally nod his head or shake it. After about 10 minutes of this process the man left. I closed my eyes so that it looked like I was sleeping. Emma was sleeping next to me. I barely noticed that she was tossing and turning, like she was trapped in a nightmare. I wish I could wake her up but I can't give away my cover. I can feel Jorge's stare. I heard footsteps then the sound of bark crunching. He must have jumped off the play set. The footsteps continued until I was sure he was out of the park.

I fully opened my eyes to see that Jorge indeed left the park and us to die. He must have gone with that man. I sigh as I notice that Emma stopped moving. In a panic I put my ear to her mouth. A soft breath escapes her lips. I sigh in relief. But it was short lived. I hear a low groan come from near the play set. My breath hitches as I frantically look around for my weapon and the raised. Good news I found that rotten scented, decaying type of plague. Bad news, my weapon is missing. Jorge. He must have taken our weapons for his own selfish reasons. I look over towards were the raised was and panic to see five more had joined it. WTF?!?! How did they get here so fast?! I frantically shake Emma awake while waking up everyone else in the process. Once they see the situation the color pooled out of their bodies. Seeing how scared they all were felt like someone jabbed a knife in my heart and began twisting it over and over again.

Along with the terrible feeling, I also felt a new found strength begin to build up. No,I won't give up just yet. I will protect my friends at all costs. Even with my life! I stand up only to get dizzy and fall to my knees. Emma grabs my shoulder to keep me steady. Eventually in able to move again, but by then we are surrounded by raised. I stand up but slower this time. Emma stand up next to me and gives me a questioning look. I look at her and give her a bittersweet smile. Her eyes widened as she must have figured out what my plan was. She mouthed a firm 'no' but I ignored it. I quickly pulled her into a one sided hug. After the shock wore off she pulled me close to her body and gripped onto me as hard as she could. I glanced over to Mal and Larry. They looked at us in disbelief. I flash another painful smile.

Once we separated from the hug Emma pulled me back in for another hug. This time Mal and Larry joined in for a group hug. I heard quiet sniffles and felt my clothes get a little wet from their tears. Well more specifically Emma. They all let go of me and took a step back. One at a time they took one last glance at me then they put their heads down. A sign of respect. A single tear manages to slip through my steel defenses. Before I could burst into a full out cry I begin my plan. I near the edge of the play set and kick away a raised. I then jump down knocking another raised off balance. I run off towards the basketball court and proceed to bang on the poles. "HEY! OVER HERE!" I yell out to get the attention of the raised. It works. They slowly turn towards me and shuffle closer. I clench my hand into a fist and deliver a blow to the nearest raised right in its jaw, successfully braking the bone. I feel a lukewarm liquid flow onto my hand. For some reason it feels good. I continue to punch and kick at the raised when they near me. After awhile a smile makes its way onto my features.

I was beginning to grow weary as I wasn't doing much damage to the raised. The others refused to look over towards me fearing they might see something they might not want to see. Knowing I won't last much longer like this I begin to attempt to lead them away from the park. It stings when I try to inhale oxygen and my hands hurt from punching the raised with all my might. I make it a little ways down the street. I see a tree with a loose branch within my reach. I walk up to it and yank off the branch. I look back towards the raised. They were a few feet away from me. When one of them get near me I shove the stick down their throat, successfully breaking the spine. With the stick gone I continue to hobble down the street. I see the school but pay no mind to it. I walk along the chain link fence, leaning on it occasionally to steady myself. I enter the parking lot to see a randomly discarded pair of scissors. Once near the scissors I fall to my knees. I'm too exhausted to even stand. I sloppily grab the scissors and turn my body to look at the raised that had been hunting me down. I was surprised to see one right in front of me. It attempts to bite me but I quickly shove the scissors into its eye socket. It goes limp and falls on top of me. I panic and try to push it off but it's too heavy for my tired arms. The other raised slowly close in. I shut my eyes not wanting to accept this reality. As I wait for my death I hear gunshots. I pass out before I can see who my savior is.

"....... ooks like it hu .........."
"No s...............erlock "
"...........ink sh..........ing up!"
"Nope jus........cinating..."
".......................!!!!!.!.!!.!.!.!!!!.!.!"
".?.?.??.............!.!.!.!!.!.!....?.?.?.??.?.?"

At first I heard voices but they were all cut up and I couldn't understand what they were saying. But then it turned to static. My head hurts. The static would change depending on how loud they were talking or how much emotion was poured into the words. It hurts the louder they were or the angrier they were. I think they're arguing. It hurts. It hurts. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. SHUT UP.! SHUT UP!
"JUST SHUT UP ALREADY!!!!" I ended up screaming out making the whole room go silent. Wait room? Where am I?! I look around to see everyone's blurry figure except for that betraying son of a ...
"Your okay!" I heard someone say. Soon after I felt a pair of arms wrap around me. I look towards the source but can't seem to figure out who it is since all I see is a blurry mass of colors. Why? My visions bad but not this bad! Normally I can actually tell who the person is but now it's all too blurry to recognize anything! Where are my glasses?!? Where is this place?!? Why can't I remember what happened before I passed out?!? Who is this person?!? There's an intense ringing in my ears as my thoughts and questions begin to build up. I begin to hyperventilate as I am having a panic attack. The person lets me go and says something, but I can't here them. It's all reduced to static as I frantically look around only to see a mass of blurry colors swirling around me. I pass out again.

To be continued...
