Samurai's P.O.V.
I got tired of Bobo hogging Gabbakins, especially when she's dying. I need some time with her too. I sat down next to her and leaned on her shoulder. She smiled warmly. I held out my wrist that had a pink ribbon tied around. "Best fries forever?" I question her. She weakly laughs. She then extends her wrist that had the same colored ribbon tied around it. "Best fries forever, and ever. " She sounded so tired. "And ever. " I finish for her. She then abruptly laughed. I can't help but laugh with her even without knowing why she was laughing. After our fit of laughter passed I clung to Gaby like glue. I refuse to let the infection take away my best frie. She pats my head and hums a familiar tune. It was radioactive from imagine dragons. I sing to her humming as she slowly stops petting my hair. I don't even know what the time is.
Gaby is my best frie, it's not fair that she had to get infected because of the kindness in her heart to save some fata** who deserved to die and probably would have eventually. It's just not fair! He deserved what he got, but Gaby doesn't deserve this torture. I'm just so mad and sad and frustrated and all that jazz wrapped in a taco! Or burrito, whatever you prefer! It doesn't matter! My frie is dying right in front of me and I can't do anything about it!!!! I'm snapped out of my thoughts when Gaby coughs. It's then that I realize I was gripping her hand, tightly. I loosen up my grip as she weakly squeezes my hand. What do I do to make the pain go away? "Hey Emma, can you promise me something?" Gaby asks out of nowhere. I only nod. "Promise me that we will always be best fries and that no matter what, no matter what happens, nothing comes between us." When she spoke she had to take a few brakes to steady her breathing. I nod. "Tell me, please." She sounded desperate. I open my mouth and somehow find a way to make up words. "I promise that no matter what happens we will always be best fries, even in death. " Gaby smiles at that and leans back into the couch. She makes a content sigh and closes her eyes. "Good. " she finally speaks when she comfortable.
"By the by, I'm immune. " I poker face at what she just said. "Wut..." that was all I could muster. "Think about it. If I were to truly die and turn into a raised I would have been dead by now. It's been 7 hours and it takes 3 to 5 hours to turn. I only know this because I watched the process from a dead person that was in the park. They died when we got there and after around 3 hours they turned. " She then abruptly stood up and stretched her arms above her head. The color of her skin was slowly coming back. She turned towards me and smiled warmly. "What? Did you honestly think I would leave my best frie to fend for herself in the apocalypse? Hah! Never, nothing can stop me!!!!" She spoke quietly as to not wake the others. I couldn't stop the smile that was creeping onto my face and just started laughing. Gaby joined into my fit of laughter. An idea popped into my head and I took action. I got off the couch and tackled Gaby to the ground. She let out a yelp of surprise as we tumbled to the ground in a heap. We just laid there and laughed, until we heard the gate from outside rattle.
We both go completely silent as we creep up to the window. I peek outside but see nothing in the pitch black darkness. Gaby cracks open the door to try an see what was going on. Sam-Sam was asleep inside the house so we didn't know just how bad it was. Gaby opened the door up a little more to see better but was met with a raised in her face. The shock made her loose balance and fall to the floor, taking the raised down with her. Oh hell no! I act quickly. I grab the back of the raised's neck and yank it away from Gaby. No bite, good. Once off of her I push it to the floor and stomp on its head with full force, successfully crushing its skull. Gaby gives me an appreciative look. I hear the gate rattle once more. Oh my god! Did someone forget to freaking close the damn gate?!? I turn to the door to be met face to face with another raised. I instinctively push it back and slam the door in its face. Then it begins to pound loudly on the door. The noise woke up Larry. He groggily sits up and rubs his eyes. Gaby pushes him back onto the bed and pulls the blanket over his face. After a few seconds I hear a loud snore. Gaby then pulls back the blanket to pinch his nose closed. He stops snoring. She let's go and flashes me a thumbs up.
The banging on the door doesn't let up. Gaby gets up and puts in her brass knuckles and then walks to the window. She opens it and jumps out. Once out I hear a loud crack an the banging stops abruptly. Gaby climb back into the house through the window and closes it. She then pulls out a red handkerchief from somewhere and wipes the blood off of her brass knuckles. She then puts the handkerchief into her pocket. After Gaby puts away her B.K. she flashes me another thumbs up. I laugh at that. She smiles sweetly and joins my laughter. She then walks up to me and boops my nose. I chuckle at her childish behavior. After a long moment of silence I start to feel sleepy. I wonder how Gaby is able to stay up all night long. I mean she looks so full of energy! "Hey, I'm feeling tired. " I speak while yawning. "Okay, good night." Gaby has a smile plastered on her face while she said that. "Night night frie." I say as I fall face first onto my make-shift bed. She chuckles and repeats what i say. "Night night frie. " I fell into a deep sleep that night.
