Once we arrived in Belkend, I was immediately rushed to the Fon Machine facility, which was where Van normally did his research. I froze outside the doors looking everywhere for someone to jump out and attack me.

"What's wrong?" Ion asked me as they all looked back at me from the doorway.

"I...can't go in there...Van..." I mumbled and that's when Ion walked over to me. He held out a hand lightly.

"No one is going to hurt you here. I promise. I won't let anyone." I looked at him shocked. He had a smile on his face, but I knew he was telling the truth. I took his hand lightly and he led me inside the building.

We turned down one of the corridors and stopped in front of a door that read 'Medical Unit.'

"I'll go in by myself. I don't really want you all to sit there and watch him poke and prod." I walked inside the room without another look at them. I didn't want any of them to know I was scared. Scared of what they would find inside my body.

"You must be Zora, please sit." The doctor said and I sat down on one of the beds in the room. "I need to get some blood is that alright?" I nodded and looked away as he drew the blood he needed. Once he was done I looked at my hands that were shaking in my lap.

I don't remember how long I waited but when the doctor came back with the results I could see a grim look on his face.

"What?" I asked knowing something bad was about to come from this.

"There's a contamination in your body. Your Fonons are rejecting your body's functions. If this keeps up, you'll most likely die from your heart stopping or your lungs giving out. I recommend you stay here where you will at least be able to be treated." I shook my head and rose from the bed.

"I won't stay here and be some test subject for people. I don't want to be waiting to die in some random bed. I would rather die knowing I did everything I could to help my friends." I started to walk past him but he stopped me by handing me a bottle of what I thought were pills.

"I thought you might say something like that so I made these just in case. They'll delay the effects of the contamination, but not forever. I give you a few more months and it will become too much for your body to take. Your Goddess Fonic Hymns will only cause the process to speed up as well. Take it easy." I walked out of the room with the pills and hid them in my pocket.

"So how was it?" Ion asked as he saw me walk out.

"Fine, they told me my Blood Fonons were a little low but nothing else." They all smiled brightly.

"That's such a relief."

I'm so sorry everyone, I have to lie to you or else you would keep me here. I won't stay behind. I promised I would do everything I could to help you all and I intend to keep my promise.

"Well we should probably go and rest at the inn." Jade said, something was a little off in the way he spoke but no one seemed to notice other than me. They all started walking towards the exit, I went to follow them, but Jade put a hand on my shoulder.

"You're lying; I know when you lie. I was your caretaker for years." I looked at the ground and sighed.

"Jade, please don't tell anyone...I want them to think I'm alright in the end. I couldn't handle being treated like some sickly girl."

"Fine, I'll go along with your little lie, but one day you'll have to tell them the truth. I know the condition your body is in; it won't be long before the signs started to show." He walked away and I was left alone to watch.

"I'm sorry Jade, I know you love me but in the end I will never be able to stay with you for another year. I'll be dead by then, whether it is by the God-Generals, Van or this illness I will be dead before this year is over." I whispered under my breath and followed everyone back to the inn.

"Zora! Zora come back!"

"I'm sorry Sync, I can't forgive you for the way you treated my father."

"I'm sorry. I wish I could make everything better with an 'I'm sorry.' I know I will never be as good as half of these suitors, but one day I want your father to see that I really do care about you."

"Goodbye Sync..."

I sat up straight in my bed feeling my body shaking.

"Zora, are you alright?" I turned my head and saw Natalia, Tear and Anise all looking at me from their beds.

"Yes, I'm sorry did I wake you all up?" They looked between each other.

"We've been worried about you since we got back to the inn, you look really pale. Are you sure you're alright, maybe they missed something?" Tear said.

"I'm alright, don't worry. Just had a bad time with the blood being drawn, I don't like my own blood very much." I chuckled lightly, hoping they didn't see through my act.

"Alright, but why are you awake?" Anise asked.

"Bad dream."

"Was it about Sync?" Natalia asked.

"No..."

"Don't lie." Tear said.

"Yes."

"You really did care about him even though he was a replica." Natalia said.

"Just because you're a replica doesn't mean you aren't human. Ion is a replica do you think any less of him Anise? And Luke too, do you all think that it's alright to do away with replicas just because the original is still here or not?" I got up and put my shoes on.

"Where are you going?" Anise asked.

"Out." I closed the door behind me and went outside.

I walked outside and looked at the night sky.

"I still remember the day we had that fight. I remember how upset I was afterwards, but I wouldn't go back to apologize. For that I'm sorry Sync, I really wish I hadn't walked away that day, maybe that's why you didn't choose to show your feelings. Because I walked away when you needed me there the most..."

I felt a cool breeze and saw that my vision was blurring. I wiped the tears away.

I never thought I needed you and now I know I need you now more than ever. I'm so lost without you. Without your smiling face, your strict personality, and all the times when I should have told you how much you meant to me. I still see your face every day, but it's not the same. It's not the same as you...

"It will never be the same as you..."
