When we got to Grand Chokmah, I could feel I was coming out of my fog a little bit, but it was still nowhere where I needed it to be. So Jade carried me to the military base and set me down in front of Fon Master Ion.
"So to explain- "He started, but Ion cut him off.
"No need, I can see someone put a Daathic Fonic Arte on her, I'll have it gone in no time. Why don't you all go wait at the inn and her and I will join you once it's all done." Jade nodded and then left with everyone else.
"Falling for such an easy Daathic Arte, Zora. What were you thinking?" He asked smiling lightly at me.
"It's not like I planned it, Sync appeared out of nowhere and then I was out like a light. Sorry if I disappointed you. I knew you trained me to know how to avoid them, guess I forgot..." His hands started to glow and I felt a sharp pain in my head.
"It's going to hurt I'm sorry, but it shouldn't linger in your body." I closed my eyes and endured the pain for a few minutes. Once it was over I felt the haze clear finally and I was able to think straight.
"Ion..." he looked at me with a small smile.
"Don't try to move around too much, the haze hasn't completely worn off and that's all we need you to do is try to get up and fall and hurt yourself." I looked at him lightly.
"You always uses to take care of me when we were kids. Whenever I got hurt..." He smiled and touched my hand.
"It gave me pleasure to know you were happy and healthy. I would trade my very life for yours if I had to." I sat up and looked at him.
"I don't want to lose you again, Ion. You're my friend, but more than that, I don't think I could handle another goodbye from you." He touched my cheek with his other hand.
"Now why would I go and hurt you like that a second time?" I blushed lightly and got up.
"Let's go join the others." I walked with him to the inn.
"Zora, you know I would gladly do anything to make you happy, but why aren't you happy now?" I looked up at the moonlight that was now shining down from the heavens.
"Because, you're here but there's also..."
"The replica of me that you have also grown close to. I see, we do look a lot alike now." I looked at him slightly.
"Ion..." he looked down at the ground.
"It's alright, it's understandable. I know you would only grow closer to him the more he was around." I turned sharply to face him but he had already walked into the others room. I followed slowly and Jade saw me he rushed to me and hugged me tightly.
"Thank goodness." I smiled a little, but I thought about Ion's words to me outside.
"Is something wrong, Zora?" Tear asked.
"No, just a little tired that's all." She looked unconvinced but dropped the matter.
"Well then, shall we start planning on what we should do to stop Van?" Guy asked.
"Yes, that should be our top priority, but there's something I have to do. Can I leave for just an hour?" I asked, everyone looked at me confused.
"What do you have to do?" Luke asked.
"I have to meet with an old friend." I turned and left the inn without another word to anyone.
"Zora!" I turned and saw Ion standing there.
"Ion..."
"Come home safely, I would never be able to forgive myself if something happened to you." I nodded.
"I promise, Ion." I disappeared without a second thought and appeared outside of the secret base that Van and the others I knew were. The door opened, Van, Legretta, Sync and Dist all appeared.
"Zora, I knew you would change your mind." I shook my head.
"I haven't changed my mind. I want to speak with Sync, alone."
"Why?" Legretta growled pulling out her guns.
"If you let me speak with him, I will consider joining the God Generals once more."
"I need a guaranteed decision." Van said. I sighed.
"Fine, I will join the God Generals at a later time." He nodded.
"Go Sync." He said and Sync walked away with me. Once we were far enough away I looked at him.
"What?" He asked lightly.
"Do you know your feelings now?" I asked.
"Zora..."
"I need an answer, Sync..."
"I don't have one for you. I'm a replica, I can't replace the real one. The one that you're trying to hide from everyone. Don't worry Van and the others know nothing about him, but you can't hide him forever." I sighed and looked away from him.
"Then there's nothing left to talk about." I started walking away.
"Zora, wait." I shook my head.
"I didn't choose the real one Sync; how could I ever choose when there are two people I love." I continued walking.
"Zora!" I took off running and finally when I was far enough away I disappeared again.
I could feel the tears as I reappeared. I shook my head and wiped them away quickly.
How can you love two people and they both think they can't compete with the other?
I walked into the inn and saw Ion sitting there with everyone else.
"Wow that was exactly an hour." Guy said as I walked in.
"That was kind of the point, to only be gone an hour. Anyways plan?" Jade nodded.
"You're not going to like it though." Ion said lightly.
"Why?"
"Because Ion has to be the bait." I shook my head sharply.
"No, hell no!" I growled.
"We don't have a choice, Zora." Ion said getting up.
"Bullshit, we always have a choice." I was shaking. I could feel my body trembling.
"Are you shaking?" Tear asked and I turned away from everyone, before leaving the room.
Ion, you're an idiot...
