Chapter 28: Again...

                  

Several days have passed since the plan to use Ion as bait to lure out Van and the others to the Absorption Gate has been going. We had just been waiting around the Sephiroth, when finally, on the third day Sync, Legretta, and Dist appeared.

"So you really brought back the original Fon Master as Largo said." Legretta said and I looked at her harshly.

"Sorry if I can't bring myself to find your presences welcoming." I said and stepped in front of Ion.

"Zora..." I looked back at him. He looked at me like I was someone else, he'd been doing it since I found out about the plan.

I turned as I sensed Legretta move. I kicked her in the stomach. She looked at me and I saw her gun point towards my head. I moved slightly and knocked the gun out of her hand.

She jumped back and re-grabbed it. Sync charged us with Dist making one of his robot things appear.

"You all handle Dist, I got Legretta and Sync." I said and charged Sync.

"You really have lost your way haven't you?" Sync asked and I kicked his side, making him go flying into one of the pillars surrounding us. Legretta appeared beside me.

"Die." I moved and jumped back as she continued to fire at me.

Sync kicking me into one of the pillars was the first time I saw Ion move. He moved directly in front of me as Legretta fired several shots.

"ION!!!!!" I caught him as he collapsed to the ground, everyone had stopped fighting in an instant.

"I told you before I would give my life for you, Zora. Even if that meant I would have to say goodbye again..." I shook my head.

"No, you can't die...I can't bring you back a second time...Ion, please..." He shook his head and touched my cheek lightly as tears ran down it.

"You can't be upset; you can't forget what you want to do. Zora, please be happy with your life. I know we'll meet again one day, but I hope that's not for many years. I saw his body start to glow.

"No....no...no..." I kept repeating that word over and over.

"Zora, my most precious friend...don't worry anymore about me...I have made my peace with the ones I love in this world and that includes you..." He turned his head and looked at Sync. "You...you may have my face, but it's you she cares for...with all of her heart...please look out for her...Sync, take care of my friend...take care of her as if your life depends on it...that's what I will leave this world with...my last wish, is for my friend to be loved and have a life worth living...goodbye...Zora...I...will always...l- "he cut off as he went limp in my arms and disappeared.

"Not again...not again with the goodbyes..." Sync took a step towards me.

"Zora."

"Are you going to fulfill Ion's last wish? Or are you going to kill me too?" He continued walking towards me and then reached out a hand.

"I can't really deny him that much, now can I?" I looked up at his face and saw that he looking at me with loving eyes.

"Sync..."

"Come on." I reached up and grabbed his hand as he helped me to my feet.

"Sync, let's go." Legretta called out as her and Dist headed to the exit.

"No." He said firmly.

"What do you mean no?" She growled.

"I'm staying with Zora. Which means I side with her. Ion gave his life for her, he said things that I should have been telling her the whole time. So now I'll be your enemy as well. I will fight for the world we have now. A world for replicas and originals to live in harmony." Legretta pointed her gun at Sync.
