The moment i knew

Chapter 26:

**Nelly's p.o.v.**

Dad pulled me up onstage with everyone and sang to me.

" make a wish then blow out the candles." Dad said and i nodded.

I wish Luke was here.

I blew out the candles ad everyone cheered.

I looked up and my tears started coming down. I wiped them away as fast as i could, but my fast, wasnt fast enough.

" Nelly? Are you ok ?" Mom asked kneeling down since im sitting in a chair.

" he isn't coming is he ?" I asked and she sighed. She lightly shook her head and i bit back the tears. I nodded and looked down.

" come on. Lets go dance. " dad said taking my hand.

" im ok. Im gonna go get fresh air." I say and start walking to the door.

" Harry, go keep an eye on her." I heard dad say. I honestly dont care at this point.

I walk outside and sit on the bench. I take off my pumps and let them fall into the ground. I look at my lap, and hear someone walking toward me. Probably Harry.

" cupcake ?" His deep voice filled my ears. Was i right ? Yes.

" yes haz ?" I ask still looking at my lap, playing with the hem of my skirt.

" what's got you down in the dump?" He sat next to me.

" Luke, he.. He umh, promised me that he would be here tonight. Micheal, Calum and Ashton are all here, but he isn't. He didnt even text me, or call me at all today. Not even to say one little hi. Harry. He promised me." I say looking at him.

" come here Nells." He opened his arms and pulled me into them. We just sit there for what feels like hours but i feel safe. Just like in Luke's arms.

" lets go back inside." Harry says and i nod.

Everyone is gone and its just me, mom, dad, Harry, Lilah and Perrie. They are all bringing stuff into the cars and i just sit on the stage.

I start singing softly.

" You should've been there,

Should've burst through the door,

With that 'baby I'm right here' smile,

And it would've felt like,

A million little shining stars had just aligned,

And I would've been so happy.

Christmas lights glisten,

I've got my eye on the door,

Just waiting for you to walk in,

But the time is ticking,

People ask me how I've been

As I comb back through my memory,

And it was like slow motion,

Standing there in my party dress,

In red lipstick,

With no one to impress,

And they're all laughing,

As I'm looking around the room,

But there's one thing missing,

And that was the moment I knew.

And the hours pass by,

Now I just wanna be alone,

But your close friends always seem to know

When there's something really wrong,

So they follow me down the hall,

And there in the bathroom,

I try not to fall apart,

And the sinking feeling starts,

As I say hopelessly,

"He said he'd be here."

And it was like slow motion,

Standing there in my party dress,

In red lipstick,

With no one to impress,

And they're all laughing,

And asking me about you,

But there was one thing missing,

And that was the moment I knew.

What do you say

When tears are streaming down your face

In front of everyone you know?

And what do you do when the one

Who means the most to you

Is the one who didn't show?

You should've been here.

And I would've been so happy.

And it was like slow motion,

Standing there in my party dress,

In red lipstick,

With no one to impress,

And they're all standing around me singing

"Happy birthday to you",

But there was one thing missing,

And that was the moment I knew.

Ooh, I knew.

And said, "I'm sorry, I didn't make it,"

And I said, "I'm sorry too,"

And that was the moment I knew. "

" Nelly ?" I heard a familiar voice say from the door.

I look up and see Luke standing in the doorway. He starts walking toward me.

" Nelly, im so sorry. I tri-" he said but i cut him off.

" im sorry. I cant." I say and run past him as out the door.

" Nelly ! Wait !" I hear him yell but i just keep running. The tears stream down my face and all can see is bright lights. Everything was blurry.

I stop and fall to my knees. I hug my knees and cry.

I heard footsteps running behind me. I dont look up at them.

They pick me up and put me in their lap. I can instantly tell by their cologne who it is.

Luke.

Hellllllo lovelys !

Im sorrrry about not updating as much anymore. I just have a lot going on.

My grandpa died,

I fractured my foot,

Me and my friends got in a fight,

I managed freshman boys soccer, and

I have chores at home.

Im trying my best to have chapters for you. I work on them, i just dont always have wifi to update it.

Again, im so sorrry. Ill update 3 times today because im so sorry.
