Recess. It wasn't what you thought it was. No swings, marry-go-rounds, slides, tire swings, or playful laughter. No, court recess was leaving the building for two hours then coming back. I decided to stop by the park on my long walk of thinking. No one was their, probably because the crisp autumn air was a little toochilly. I sat down on the black plastic swing, and moved back and forth. After awhile someone sat on the swing next to me. "He didn't do it." A quiet female voice whispered I looked up to see Kendra. Her gray hair pulled up into a neat pony tail, she was wearing black skinny jeans and a white t-shirt. "How do you know?" I scoffed "I was with him, we where together that night." "Sure." "We where in the hospital..." "Why?" "I had a miscarriage." My jaw dropped. "I-I'm so sorry." I whispered looking down at my hands "It's fine." "You need to show up at court then." •an hour later• "Miss. Jackson brought in Mr. Johnson's girlfriend." The judge states as she looks down at Kendra who was on the stand. Miles lawyer nodded and stood up. "Miss. Way, where were you September 20th?" The lawyer asked "I...I was in the hospital with Miles." Kendra says leaning into the mic "And why is that?" "I...I had a m-miscarriage." "So, there are documents to prove that Mr. Johnson was their at the time?" "Yes." The lawyer just nodded and sat down. The judge sighed, and the other lawyer called me up to the stand. I helped Kendra back to where I was sitting, and then I got to the stand. "Do you believe this Miss. Jackson?" He asked me "Yes." I stated making eye contact with Austin, who just nodded at me. "And why is that?" "Kendra would not lie about something about that." "Are you 100% positive?" "Yes." The lawyer nodded and sat down. That concluded court for the day. •at home• My mother sat Kendra up in my brothers room, since he would be on vacation for the next week. I slipped into sweatpants and a long sleeve grey shirt. I then made my way downstairs. We all sat around the fire talking. I sat with Jake, Austin sat with his girlfriend Bella, and Kendra and Miles sat together. We laughed and joked all night long. Jake soon fell asleep with his grip on me tight, just like I was his teddy bear. I giggled, and curled up with him. "I love you, Emily." He whispered in my ear, causing my whole face to go red and my stomach to explode with butterflies. "I love you too, Jake." I whispered back "Good, cause if you didn't I'd have to kill ya'" he laughed. After awhile I fell asleep, and we cuddled all night next to the fire. That morning I woke up still in his embrace, the fire barely lit. The sun was just rising and the sky was a mix of pink and orange. I snuggled my head into the crook of his neck, and closed my eyes. "Good morning, my sunshine." Jake whispered his voice husky. "Good Morning." I mumbled "Come on, let's go inside then we can sleep some more." He picked me up, and took me into the living room of house. He set me down on the soft couch, and put two blankets on top of me. He laid down in front of me, and wrapped his arms around my waist. "You're so pretty when you sleep." He stated kissing my forehead. I just softly giggled, and closed my eyes. I was almost asleep when I heard Jake whisper something. "I want to make you mine forever." After that I fell asleep. I stood at the last step of the stairway bawling my eyes out. Kendra noticed me from the living room, and ran over. She gently rested her right hand on my left shoulder. "Sh, it'll be okay. Come on, let's go watch TV." I nodded and walked next to her as we went into the living room. Yesterday Mrs. Carlile came over and we talked for hours. Austin was at work today, so it was just Kendra, Mom, and I. After an hour watching Attack On Titan I got a phone call. I stared at the screen for awhile, then I clicked answer. "EMILY!" I heard Ausin wail "Austin?" I asked "M-MOM!!!" He yelled crying. I hung up the phone, and sprinted out the front door. My small feet hit the cold pavement hard, but I kept running down the street. I was given confused looks but I had no time to stop and explain. Finally, the hospital was in my view. I kicked up the speed, and made my way to the front. Okay, so now I'm thankful for the three years of track Jake forced me to go through. I ran into the reception room of the ER and spotted Austin. His hair was spiked up like normal. He had his hands on his face as he crouched over. I ran over and kneeled down. I gently set my hands on his knees trying to catch my breath. "Austin." I gasped trying to breath. He then looked up at me like this:

"She's...dead." He stated his voice cold, face blank, but his eyes..oh his eyes said it all. I jumped onto him, and hugged him as tight as I could. "Was it?" I whispered "Yeah." He then started to break down crying. He hugged me back as tight as he could and cried. It broke my heart to see him like this. Now we where both heartbroken and grieving. "I'm such a horrible son." He stated crying "No, no you're not." I say soothing him. "S-She called and I didn't answer and now she's dead." "Don't blame yourself, it'll only make things worse." After three hours his grandmother took us back to my house. My mom ran at us, and pulled us into a hug. She must of heard about it. We then went up to my room, and cuddled. He cried into my shoulder until he fell asleep, and the whole time I just shushed him and told him it would be alright. I laid my head in the crook of his neck smelling in vanilla, and then falling asleep until about three in the morning. I woke up to Austin screaming and crying in his sleep. "E-Emily." Austin whimpered as I shook him awake. Once his eyes opened he latched onto me. "Never ever leave me." He said "I won't." I state rubbing his back.
