•three weeks later• "Miss. Jackson we would like you to look at the case." An officer stated on the other side of the phone. "Okay, I'll be there soon." I hang up and then look over at the bed. Austin laid there holding onto the sheets like he was falling. His eyes closed, his hair messy and the bags under his eyes almost pitch black. I slowly walked over to the bed, my black converse making a thump noise every step. I gently sat down on the bed, and placed my hand on Austin's cheek. He hasn't gone to work, he won't eat, he barely even talks to me. I sighed, and kissed his forehead. I then walked out of the dark room, and went down stairs. I grabbed the keys to Jake's car, and went to the garage. Jake's mother knew I didn't have a car, and she thought it would be nice if I had his. I sat down in the leather seat, and put the kay in the ignition. I sat down and looked around. It smelled like fresh leather and I loved it. I smiled big, and popped in the Californication cd that I got Jake for his birthday. He smiled at me as he started to car. "Are you sure you know how to drive?" I asked giggling "Yeah, I mean I passed the test." He laughed "That doesn't mean you can drive." "Touché." I rolled down the tinted window of the passenger side, and laughed. We then pulled out of the drive way and began our random journey. The sun was just setting as we parked in a corn field. I raised an eyebrow and looked over at Jake who was smiling like an idiot. He then grabbed my hand, and sighed. "Em." He stated clearly nervous. "Hm?" I hummed "I want you to know, that I like you more than a friend." Explosion! My face went bright red, and my whole body was full of butterflies. "I-I do too." I state trying not to scream "You know what that mean...right?" He asked chuckling "Only if you say it." "Will you be my girlfriend?" "Are you an idiot?" "You always call me one so..yes?" "That's your answer." I opened the little middle thing and looked around for the CD. My fingers finally touched the plastic, and picked it up. I popped in the CD and played Scar Tissue as I drove down to the station. When I got there I was put in the interrogation room with a file. Case 1088 Name: Jake Blackwood Age: 18 Cause Of Death: poison Time Of Death: 9:50 pm I looked up at the wall where the one way mirror was. Tears overflowed my eyes, and it was all clear now. She did it. I then opened my mouth to speak to whomever was on the otherside. "I know who did it." I state cold, feeling my whole body going numb. "That evening Jake texted me and told me that his ex's grandmother had died and he was going to check up on her. I trusted him and I knew he wouldn't do anything with her. Two days later...I got the phone call he was dead, but I saw him the day after his visit with her." Then everything went black. Nothingness. I heard some yelling come from a dead voice, and multiple warm hands shaking my limp body. I didn't move, I couldn't move. I was just so stressed, anxious, and depressed I just...collapsed. It felt like two hours, but when I opened my eyes it was night time and I was laying in a hospital bed. I took the oxygen mask off my face, and set it on the bedside table. The bed was very uncomfortable and the blankets where like paper, but I was warm. A nurse with long blonde hair walked in and gave me a bright friendly smile. "Miss. Jackson, how are you feeling?" She asked in a perky but tired tone "Tired, stressed, anxious, depressed, I'm feeling a lot of things." I yawned "Well, you had collapsed from all those things. You need to rest, we understand what's going on in your life but if you don't rest it'll get worse." "Where's Austin?" "Austin, you're mother, and Kendra are down in the waiting room. I'll go get them." I nodded, and then she was gone. Austin bursted trough the door, and ran at me. He embraced me in a huge hug, while he cried into my shoulder. My mother and Kendra rubbed his back as I told him I was okay. He pulled away, and wiped his tears away. "I can't loose you." He sniffled, his voice husky from sleeping all day. "You won't." TIME SKIP TO TRIAL "I call Miss. Blanket to the stand." Three weeks of hunting this bitch down and now she's on trial. I sat on the cold wooden bench next to Austin and Kendra. Austin grabbed my cold left hand with his warm left hand. Kendra just sat there motionless. I looked up to see her sitting there with a smile on her face. Her long blonde hair resting on her shoulders, and her makeup fully done.

"Miss. Blanket, why did you poison Mr. Blackwood?" The lawyer asked "What do you mean?" She asked her voice all perky and happy. "We know you poisoned him, we have your fingerprints on the bottle of poison and that's solid proof." "Fine, I killed him. I did it cause he and that little skank over there where happy, and I wasn't happy. So, she needed to feel my pain." She spat out glaring at me. "So you are confessing?" "Yeah, my lawyer said if I just confessed it would be easy." I just shook my head and started crying. I slowly stood up and closed my eyes. I felt all eyes on me, but I just continued to stand. "F*ck you." Is all I managed to say before I walked out of the silent room. After I took three steps on the sidewalk I was yelled at. "What the hell was that about?!" Kendra yelled at me running to catch up. Her black pencil skirt holding her legs back. "She ruined my life!" I yelled back walking faster towards the stop light two blocks away. "So you cuss at her in front of a court?" I spin around on my heels, and stop her in her tracks. "Yes, because Jake was the love of my life and she couldn't take that and ruined everything!" "Em, chill." "No, I will not chill. First my boyfriend dies, then you come along, and Austin mom dies." "Then I come along..." "Yeah, adding more stress!" "So I should leave?" "Yes! Leave! And take Miles with you!" Kendra's brown eyes filled with tears and she turned to run away. I then felt dizzy, the world around me was closing in, I couldn't breath. It was like there where no air in my lungs. Austin ran towards me and held both my hands making me blush a little. "Inhale when I say 1 and 2, exhale at 3 and 4." He stated in a soothing time. I nodded and he began to count. "1 and 2." I breathed in "3 and 4." I breathed out It went like that till I could take fairly normal breaths, which wasn't easy. I was crying my eyes out, my heart was beating out of my chest, my eyes where closing, and then I almost hit the ground. I felt Austin's semi tattooed arm pick me up, and run. Next thing I knew I was in my cold bed. I felt two arms still around my lower torso, holding my body close to theirs. "I drove Kendra away." I whisper "Sh, it'll be okay." Austin sniffles "I wrote a song." He states trying to get my mind off of things. "Sing it to me?" I ask setting my head in the crook of his neck. "I believe it's time for me to be famous, And out of place. I believe it's time for me to move forward, When I break through. When I break through. When I break through." He sang his breath grazing my neck making me blush. "This time I'll make you, Proud to see me over, come on daylight. Proud of, who you raised. Your shelter, your peacefulness. So this time I'll make you proud. Proud of, who you raised up. You know that I will, Always be here 'til the end." I knew this song was about his mother after this and it made me want to cry. "Come back so I can say thank you for this, Home cooked meals and a place to rest, My troubled head when you're away, I've passed the test, I've earned an A, Not just in school, but in life, You'll always be right by my side. To help me show, hope to all, That are lost and sick in this dying world. I'll use the love you left behind, I'll change their minds, I'll change their minds." After he sang that I did cry. He stopped but I told him to keep going. "I hope, I hope you smile, When you look down on me. I hope you smile. This can't, we won't know. I hope that I make you proud." I smiled and then Austin spoke. "I wrote the next part for you." He states "Sing it for me." I smiled letting a single tear run down my cheek. "This is not what it is, only baby scars. I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side. This is not what it is, only baby scars. I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side. This is not what it is, only baby scars. I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side, yeah." I pulled my head out of the crook of his neck, and looked him straight in the face. I put my right hand on his right cheek and smiled a little. I had so many feelings, but the only words that came out where: "Thank you." I then laid my head back down and fell asleep in the warm embrace of my best friend, Austin.
